In the name of God Amen The 24th daye of Februarie the yeare of our Lord God 1604 and the second yeare of the Raigne of our Soveraigne Lord James by the grace of god of England France & Ireland kinge Defender of the faith & of Scotland the xxxviiith I John Stokes of Ab Kettleby in the County of Leic yeoman beinge of whole mynde & in good & perfect remembrance praised be god therefore make & ordaine this my present Testament conteyninge thereine my last Will in maner & fourme followinge
First I comend my Soule into the hands of Almightie god maker of heaven & Earth &c and my body to be buried in the parishe Church or Church yarde of Ab Kettlebye aforesaid &c
Item I give & bequeath unto John Stokes my Son all my lands & Tenements with their appurteanances in Thorowghton & to the heires of his body Lawfullie begotten for ever
Item I give more to my said Son three horses or mares
Item I give & bequeath unto Robte Stoks my Sonne xxx li
Item I give & bequeath unto Agnes my Daughter xx li
Item I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Susanna xx li
Item I give and bequeath unto Jone my Daughter xx li
Item whereas my Sister Margerie her parte was by her fathers will xxxs I give unto her xxxs more to make it up iii li
Item I give unto William Gulsonne one yowe & a lambe
Item I give unto everie one of my brother Richards children a lambe
Item I give unto Richard Stokes my brother & to his wife xs
Also I ordaine & appoint my said brother Richard Stoks to be Overseer of his my last will
And all the rest of my goods unbequeathed I give & bequeath them unto Robte Stoks my brother whome I make my full & whole Executor of this my laste will & Testament
