William Steel of Long Clawson 1813 Will

This is the last Will and Testament of me William Steel of Long Clawson in the County of Leicester Grazier

First I direct my just Debts Legacies funeral and testamentary expences be first paid

I Give and bequeath All my Household Furniture in my now dwelling house unto my dear Wife Ann Steel her Executors and Administrators

I Give and bequeath unto my son James Steel the sum of ten pounds and unto my son Robert Steel the sum of one Shilling to be paid to them within twelve months after my death

I Give and bequeath All the Rest and residue of my Personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature or sort soever the same may be unto my two friends Edward Moore and John Doubleday both of Long Clawson aforesaid Graziers their Executors Administrators and Assigns Upon trust nevertheless that they my said Trustees and the Survivor of them his Executors and Administrators shall stand possessed of my said Personal Estate and Effects and pay thereout unto my said Wife the sum of five pounds a year so long as she continues my Widow and until my youngest Child shall have attained to his full age of twenty one years

And also shall and will pay and apply the Interest and proceeds arising from my said Personal Estate and Effects unto and for the maintenance of my said Wife and her three Children Mary Ann and Thomas Steel until the youngest of my said three Children shall have attained to his full age of twenty one years But if the Interest of my said Personal Estate and Effects shall not be considered by my said Trustees as sufficient to support my said Wife and Children then I authorize my said Trustees to take such part of my said Personal Estate and Effects for that purpose as they shall think right

In Case any of my said Children should happen to die or leave my said Wife before the youngest attains his said age of twenty one years Then I direct my said Trustees and the survivor of them his Executor or Administrators to pay unto my said Wife the sum of Fifteen pounds a year so long as she continue my Widow and lives alone But in case my said Wife shall happen to marry again or Keep any other persons house Then I Give and bequeath all my said Personal Estate and Effects unto and amongst all and every my said three Children when and so soon as the youngest shall have attained his or her full age of twenty one years share and share alike

But in Case my said Wife shall so marry again and my said three Children should happen to die Then I Give and bequeath my said Personal Estate and Effects and every part thereof unto my said Son James Steel his Executors and Administrators

And I do hereby appoint my said Trustees Edward Moore and John Doubleday Trustees and Guardians of my said three Children during their minority and joint Executors of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former Wills by me made

In Witness whereof I the said William Steel the testator have hereunto set my hand and seal this twentieth day of March One thousand eight hundred and twelve

Signed sealed published and declared by the said William Steel the testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other set our hands as Witnesses to the due execution thereof

Let probat be granted to Edward Moore of Long Clauston Grazier & John Doubleday of Long Clauston Grazier joint Executors of this will: they being sworn to the due execution of it & made oath that the whole personal Estate of the Testator at the time of his death March 1st 1813 did not amount in value to the sum of Four hundred & fifty pounds
