John Smith of Nether Broughton 1660 Will and Inventory

In the name of God Amen I John Smith of Nether Broughton in the Countie of Leicester husbandman beinge Sicke in Bodie but in Good and parfecte Remembrance the Lord be praysed theirefore I doe Consent and make this my Last Will and Testament in maner and forme following that is to say

First and principallie I doe Comend my Soule Into the hands of Allmightie God maker and Redemer Assuredly Expectinge That by and through the Onely merritts of Christ Jesus my Onelye Savioure and Redemer I Shall have parfect Remyssion of all my Sines and my Bodie doe Comend to the Earth from whence it came to be Decently Buried in the Church yeard of Nether Broughton Aforesaid and as touchinge all my Worldly goods whearewith the God hath Beene pleased to Blesse mee I doe dispose of them as followeth That is to say my will is

Item I give unto my wife Elyzabeth Smith to have Six Bease and I would have hir to have the joyse of them for two Bease and I would have my Sonne Andrew Smith to keepe these Bease winter and summer

Itam I give unto my Brother Clement Smith Three Children Three Shillings and foure pence apeece

Itam I Give unto my Brother William Ludlam five Children Three Shillings and fore pence apeece to be paid two yeares after my Decease and my Brother Clement Smith Children to have Theires at the same time

Itam I give unto Mary Warde my Servant three Shillings and fourpence

Itam I Give unto the poore of Nether Broughton Tenne Shillings and my Soone Andrew Smith to pay all my debts

Itam I would have my Wife Elyzabeth Smith to have the forth part of all kinde of Corne and pasture and my Sonne Andrew Smith to pay hir five pounds a yeare as Longe as Shee keepeth hir selfe widdow and to Live togather if the Same agree if not my Wife Elyzabeth Smith is to have the great parler as longe as shee keepeth hir widow and if shee marries again to have fore pound a yeare as long as shee liveth and my Sonne Andrew Smith to give to my Wife Elyzabeth two bease when Shee dies to be at hir Disposinge

Itam I give unto my Sonne Andrew Smith my house and Land and pasture and whomstead paying all the Legaces forth of this my Last will
