Thomas Simpson of Saxelby 1705 Will and Inventory

In the name of God, Amen, I Tho Simson of Saxilby in the county of Leicester Husbandman being weak of body but of sound and perfect memory, praised be God therefore, do make and ordain this my last will and Testament in manner following That is to say

First I recommend my soul into the hands of God my most mercifull creator, and my body to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executors, & my worldly substance I dispose of as followes

First I give and bequeath to my eldest daughter Elizabeth the sum of ten pounds to be payed to her when she shall arrive to the age of twenty one years Also ten pounds more to be payed to her when she shall arrive to the age of twenty eight years But if she shall happen to decease before she arrive to the age of twenty eight years and leave issue of her body then my will is that the said ten pounds be paied to the issue of her body But if it shall so happen that she shall decease before she arrive to the age of twenty eight years without leaving Issue, then my will is that the said ten pounds be equally divided betwixt my wife Dorothy and my sons Thos and John

Item I give to my said daughter Elizabeth one half headed bedstead, and my best set of curtains, and one flaxen sheet, and a bolster, and two fether pillows, & two flaxen pillow bears, and one great chest that was her mothers, and six napkins, and a diaper table cloth, and my biggest brasse pot, and my largest pewter dish

And all the rest of my goods and chattels whatsoever I give to my wife Dorothy and my sons Thomas and John to be equally divided betwixt them

And I nominate and appoint my wife Dorothy and my sons Thomas and John to be joynt Executors of this my last will and Testament

Also my will is that my sons Tho: and John be under the Guardianship and tuition of my wife Dorothy till they arrive to the age of twenty one years And also that my Brother William Simson of Segrave have the Guardianship and tuition of my daughter Elizabeth till she arrive to the age of twenty one years

In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and sea the Sixth day of September in the Year of our Lord God One Thousand Seven hundred & four
