William Sills of Eaton 1786 Will

In the Name of God Amen I William Silles of Eaton in the County of Leicester Grazier being infirm and weak of Body but of sound and disposing Mind Memory and Understanding do make publish and declare this my last Will and Testament in the following Manner and Form That is to say

First of all I give and bequeath my immortal Soul into the Hands of Almighty God Hoping for Mercy through the Merits of Christ Jesus my Saviour at my Resurrection and my Body I commit to be decently interred in the Parish Churchyard of Eaton aforesaid at the Discretion of my Executor and Executrix herein after mentioned and as for my Worldly and temporal Estate which it hath pleased God to endow me with I give and dispose thereof in the following Manner

First of all I give and devise unto Mary my Eldest Daughter the Sum of five Pounds

Also I give and devise unto my Daughter Anne the Wife of Thomas Turner the Sum of one Shilling

Also I give unto my Daughter Elizabeth the Sum of five Pounds to be paid in the third year after my Decease

Also I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Damaseen the Sum of five Pounds to be paid in the fifth year after my Decease

Also I give and devise unto my Son John the Sum of seven Pounds to be paid unto him when he arrives at the Age of twenty four years

Also I give devise unto my Son Thomas the sum of seven Pounds to be paid unto him when he arrives at the Age of twenty four years

Also I give and devise unto my Daughter Sarah the sum of five Pounds to be paid to her when she arrives at the Age of twenty one years

Also I give and devise unto my Daughter Alice the sum of five Pounds to be paid when she arrives at the Age of twenty one years

Also I give and devise unto my youngest Son Robert the Sum of seven Pounds to be paid when he arrives at the Age of twenty one years

My Will and Command further is that if any of my Sons should decease before they attain to their respected [sic] Ages here assigned of twenty four or twenty one years of Age that then their part or Portion here assigned shall devolve to the Survivours or Survivour of my Sons share and share alike to wit of John Thomas and Robert but my Will further is that if any of my Daughters should decease before they attain to their respective Ages or at least before they receive their Parts or Portions here Assigned that then their Parts or Portions shall not be paid but devolve to my Executor and Executrix

And my Will and Command further is that if any of my Children should be sick or weak and unable to provide for themselves they must have an Home or being with my Executor and Executrix till such Time as they receive their Parts or Portions here assigned

And Lastly I do hereby give and devise unto my Loving Wife Mary and my Eldest Son William all the Residue and Rest and Remainder of my Goods Stock Cattles Chattles Rights Credits and Personal Estate of what Nature or Kind soever or wheresoever They paying all my just Debts Legacies and Funeral Expences

And Lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my said Loving Wife Mary and Eldest Son William to be joint Executrix and Executor of this my last Will and Testament utterly revoking all former Wills by me at any time heretofore made

In Witness whereof I the said William Silles the Testator have hereunto set my Hand and Seal this Eight Day of March One Thousand seven Hundred Eighty and five

Signed sealed and publickly declared and published by the said William Silles the Testator to be his last Will and Testament in the presence of us the Witnesses underwritten who at his Request and in his presence and in the presence of Each other have set our Hands as Witnesses to the due Execution of this his said Will
