In the name of God Amen the one & twentieth Day of July in the five & twentieth yeare of the Raigne of Our Soveraigne Ld King Charles the 2d Over England &c Annoq Dni 1673 I George Shuttlewood of Holewell in the County of Leister Gent: being weake in body but of good & perfect memory (blessed bee God for it) Doe make & ordeine this my last Will & testament in maner & forme following

First I comend my Soule to God that gave it hopeing through the merritts of Jesus Christ to bee partaker of Everlasting life; my body I bequeath unto the Earth decently to [“be” missing] interred at the discretion of my Executrix hopeing for a joyfull resurrection

And as for my estate Goods & Chattells which it hath pleased God to lend me I devise & bequeath as followeth

First I devise & bequeath unto my brothers in Law William Perkins gent & William Coles Clerke & to theire heires and assignes All those two Cottages tenements or dwelling houses with theire & either of theire appurtenances scituate & being in Scalford in the County of Leister aforesaid, now or late in the Occupations of Thomas Awood & Thomas Burbidge with all lands leyes meadowes Comons comons of Pasture comodities & profitts whatsoever to them or either of them belonging, To hold the same premisses to them theire heires & assignes to the intent & purpose that they or the Survivour of them or the heires of such Survivour shall as soone as conveniently may bee after my decease sell & convey the same premisses to the best advantage that may be & the moneyes thereof & thereby raised to distribute & pay equally amongst my Children George Gertrude Robert & Charles when they shall severally attaine theire Severall ages of twenty & one years & that those of them that are under age shalbe educated & brought up out of their dividend & proportion & if any shall dye before they attaine their full age of twenty & one yeares then the proportion or dividend of him or her soe dyeing shall be payd amongst the Survivors of them

Alsoe I give & bequeath unto Gertrude my loveing wife all my Goods chattels & cattles whatsoever, except such houshold Goods as shee brought with her att her marryage with mee & foure Cowes, upon this provisoe & trust & confidence in her deposed that she shall sell & dispose the same to the best advantage that may bee within twelve monethes next after my decease & the moneyes thereof & thereby made & raised to pay & divide amongst my sd children at theire severall ages of twenty & one yeares & in the meane time those that are under that age to bee maintained & educated out of theire dividend & proportion & my will is that if any of my sd children dye before they come to theire severall ages of twenty & one yeares the dividend or proportion of him or her soe dyeing shalbe equally divided amongst the Survivors of them

Alsoe I give & bequeath unto my sd wife all the sd houshold goods which she had at her marriage with mee, & over & above four of my best dairy Cowes & I doe hereby make & ordaine her the sd Gertrude full & sole Executrix of this my last Will & testament revoking all others whatsoever by me heretofore made

And lastly I give unto the poore of Holewell & Scalford fourty shillings to be pd within one yeare after my decease
