Jonathan Shepherd of Old Dalby 1747 Will

Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland Archives, Leicestershire Wills and Probate Records 1747

In the Name of God Amen I Jonathan Shepherd of Old Dalby in the County of Leicester Gentleman (being weak in Body but of sound mind and memory) Do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in manner following (that is to say)

First I Give and Devise All my Lands Tenements and Hereditaments scituate lying and being in Old Dalby aforesaid with their appurtenances unto my loving wife Theodosia Shepherd for a during the Term of her naturall Life

Also I Give and Devise all my Lands and Tenements scituate lying and being in Aslackby otherwise Aslaby and Little Bytham in the County of Lincolne unto my said loving wife Theodosia Shepherd her Heirs and Assignes forever to be sold by her imediately after my decease for the payment of the monies due to Mr Steel on mortgage and also for the payment of the Legacies hereinafter bequeathed

Also I Give and bequeath unto my two Brothers Tuffin Shepherd and Hugh Shepherd One Hundred pounds apiece to be paid by my Executrix herein after named

Also I Give and bequeath unto my Sister Elizabeth Shepherd one Hundred pounds to be paid also by my Executrix herein after named

And as to the rest of my Goods Chattles and personall Estate whatsoever and wheresoever I Give and bequeath the same (after my Debts and funerall Expences are all paid and discharged) unto my said loving Wife Theodosia Shepherd whom I hereby Constitute and appoint Sole Executrix of this my Last Will and Testament

In Witness whereof I the said Jonathan Shepherd have hereunto set my hand and seal the eighth day of February in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and forty seven
