This is the last Will and Testament of me William Shelton of Eaton in the County of Leicester farmer

First I order and direct that all my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses shall be paid by my Executors hereinafter named out of my personal estate

I give unto my dear Wife Sarah Shelton the use of all my household goods and furniture plate linen and china in and about my dwellinghouse at the time of my decease for and during the term of her natural life and from and immediately after her decease I give and bequeath the same household goods and furniture plate linen and china unto and equally between and amongst such of my children as shall be living at the time of the death of my said Wife share and share alike

I give and bequeath unto my Brother in Law William Tyler of Denton in the County of Lincoln Farmer and Richard Bailey of Eaton aforesaid farmer the Sum of One thousand pounds sterling now lent by me and secured on mortgage of the Grantham Wesleyan Chapel with full power to call in and compel payment of the same and from time to time to invest the same upon other real or government Security at Interest at the discretion of them the said William Tyler and Richard Bailey or the survivor of them his executors and administrators and to pay the interest dividends and annual proceeds arising from the said sum of One thousand pounds sterling unto my said Wife Sarah Shelton for and during the term of her natural life

And from and immediately after her decease In Trust to pay and divide the said Sum of One thousand pounds sterling and the interest dividends and annual produce then due thereon unto and equally between and amongst all my children namely Mary Morris Widow of John Rudkin Morris deceased Ellen Shelton Anne Shelton Sarah Shelton Frances Shelton and Elizabeth Shelton and the issue of such of them my said children as shall be then dead leaving issue such issue to take the Share of his her or their deceased parent or parents and to be payable as and when such issue shall attain the age or respective ages of twenty one years and the interest dividends and annual produce of each childs expectant share to be in the meantime paid and applied for and towards his her or their maintenance education and support

As to all the rest residue and remainder of my personal estate and effects of what nature or kind soever and wheresoever of which I may die possessed or in any way entitled unto (not hereinbefore by me specifically disposed of) I give and bequeath the same and every part thereof unto and equally between and amongst my said children Mary Morris, Ellen Shelton Anne Shelton, Sarah Shelton, Frances Shelton, and Elizabeth Shelton share and share alike Provided always and I do hereby declare that they my said Trustees and the survivor of them his heirs executors and administrators shall be charged and chargeable only for so much money as they or he shall actually receive by virtue of the trusts hereby in them or him reposed and that the one of them shall not be answerable for the other of them but each of them for his own acts receipts neglects and defaults only nor for any loss or damage which may happen in the execution of any of the aforesaid trusts except the same shall happen by or through their own wilful neglects or defaults respectively

And also shall and may by and out of the monies which shall come to their respective hands by virtue of this my Will retain to and reimburse themselves respectively all such costs charges damages and expences which they shall respectively suffer or be put to by reason of the trusts hereby in them reposed

And Lastly I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint the said William Tyler and Richard Bailey joint Executors In Trust of this my last Will and Testament and hereby revoking all former Wills by me at any time heretofore made I do declare this only to be and contain my true last Will and Testament

In Witness whereof I the said William Shelton the Testator have to this my last Will and testament contained in this and the preceding Sheet of paper set my hand at the bottom or end of each Sheet thereof this second day of January in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty three

This and the preceding Sheet of paper were severally signed by the above named William Shelton the Testator and the same were by him published and declared as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us present at the same time who in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as Witnesses

On the 14th day of August 1861 the Will of William Shelton late of Eaton in the County of Leicester Farmer was proved by the Oaths of William Tyler and Richard Bailey the Executors named in the Will they having been first sworn duly to administer

Sworn under £4,000 and that the Testator died on the 26th day of February 1861
