I Elizabeth Severn of Broughton in the County of Nottingham Widow in the Sight of the only true God and having a due sense of my mortality do by this my will dispose of and give the Property which by an indulgent husband has been committed to me and all other the effects Property and Estate of which I shall be possessed at the time of my decease to the several Persons and in manner And form and subject to the clauses Provisoes and directions following that is to say

First I direct that all my just debts and funeral expences and the expence of proving this my last will and Testament shall be paid as soon as conveniently may be after my decease and after the payment thereof I give and bequeath the following Legacies that is to say

To the Unitarian fund established in London One hundred pounds

To the Revd John Horsey dissenting minister Northampton fifty pounds

To Mary Ann the Wife of Daniel Tong and daughter of the said Josiah Severn fifty pounds

To James Severn Son of George Severn late of Nottingham Butcher deceased fifty pounds

To William Bonner late of Leicester Frame Work Knitter & … to Jane Smith fifty pounds

To Elizabeth Hartell the Neice of Mrs Mary Brown of Frolesworth Leicestershire nineteen pounds & nineteen shillings

To the five daughters of the beforenamed George Severn deceased nineteen pounds nineteen shillings each

To John Severn Campion Son of Robert Campion of the City of Norwich draper nineteen pounds and nineteen shillings

To Mary Lamb now Servant with me nineteen pounds and nineteen shillings

To Ann Severn the elder of Muckwall Widow ten pounds

To Mrs Abell of Lutterworth in the County of Leicester Widow ten pounds

To Elizabeth Smith the daughter of Mary Smith Widow my Sister one hundred pounds together with all the furniture Plate Linen books Beds bedding household stuff which at the time of my decease shall be in upon or about the Premises now occupied by me at Broughton aforesaid

To Benjamin Severn Esqr of Hare Hall in the County of Essex the likeness or Portraits of my dear demised husband myself and the Revd Martin

To the said Benjamin Severn The use possession and enjoyment, but not the property, of my musical Clock for and during the term of her [sic] natural life

To Richard Chettle Smith and his heirs after the decease of the said Benjamin Severn the absolute property of the said Musical Clock

To Elizabeth Severn the daughter of John Severn late of Nottingham Butcher deceased my Silver Tea Pot

To John Severn of London Merchant and Richard Chettle Smith of Lutterworth in the County of Leicester the Sum of one hundred pounds in trust to place the same out at Interest and pay the Interest thereof yearly and every year as the same shall be received To Mr Richard Wright Unitarian Missionary for and during the term of his natural life and from and after his decease upon trust to pay to and for the use of the Unitarian Itinerant Academy at Harbury near London the Sum of fifty pounds part of the said one hundred pounds And to and for the use of the Manchester Unitarian College or Academy at York fifty pounds remainder of the said one hundred pounds Provided that if at the time of the decease of the said Richard Wright there shall be no Itinerant Unitarian Academy in existence then the whole of the said one hundred pounds shall be paid to and for the use of the said Manchester Unitarian College or Academy

To Mrs Mary Brown of Frolesworth in the County of Leicester nineteen pounds and nineteen shillings in case she shall be living at the time of my decease but if she shall be then dead then the said Sum of nineteen pounds and nineteen shillings to be paid To the before named Elizabeth Hartel Neice of the said Mary Brown

And as to for and concerning all the rest residue and remainder of my said Personal Estate and Effects not hereinbefore disposed of I give and bequeath the same unto the said John Severn and Richard Chettle Smith upon the following trusts that is to say upon  trust in the first place to put the same out at Interest and pay and apply two third parts of such Interest when and as the same shall be received yearly and every year To the said Mary Smith my Sister the Widow of Richard Smith the elder deceased for and during the term of her natural life

And the remaining third part of such Interest the said John Severn and Richard Chettle Smith or the Survivor of them his Executors or Administrators are again to place out at Interest from time to time as the said shall be received to from an accumulating fund until the youngest of the Children of George Lakin of Lutterworth aforesaid Draper shall attain the age of twenty one years

And upon further trust from and after the decease of the said Mary Smith to pay and dispose of the principal so then out at Interest as aforesaid in manner following that is to say

To the before mentioned Elizabeth Smith a further Sum of One hundred Pounds

To the said Richard Chettle Smith one part of the remainder of such principal money

To Robert Lowe Smith brother of the said Richard Chettle Smith one other third part thereof

And as concerning the remaining third part thereof together with all the Interest which shall have accumulated and become due for the same when and so soon as the youngest Child of the said George Lakin shall attain the age of twenty one years (whether in the life time of the said Mary Smith or not) To pay and divide the same equally between and amongst such of the Children of the said George Lakin as shall be living at the time of the youngest Child of the said George Lakin attaining the age of twenty one years share and share alike

Provided always And I do hereby direct that the said John Severn and Richard Chettle Smith and the Survivor of them and his heirs or Administrators shall and may deduct and retain out of the monies which shall come to their his or her hands all costs charges and expences which shall be incurred in the Execution of the trusts of this my Will And that they the said John Severn and Richard Chettle Smith and the Survivor of them and his or her Executors or Administrators shall not be charged or chargeable but only each of them for his or her own respective receipts payments acts and wilful defaults nor with any Sum or Sums of money other than such as shall actually come to their or his own Acts [sic] respectively nor with any loss or damage which may happen in placing out any of the monies aforesaid nor with or for any loss or damage which may happen in the Execution of any of the trusts of this my will without his or her respective wilful default

And lastly I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint the said John Severn and Richard Chettle Smith joint Executors of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking All former And other Will or Wills by me at any time heretofore made

In Witness whereof I have to this my last will and Testament contained in four sheets of paper set my hand and Seal this twelfth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighteen
