I Ann Selby of Stathern in the County of Leicester Widow of the late John Selby of Stathern in the said County of Leicester I Ann Selby being in perfect mind and Memory and knowing it is appointed for all men to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say

Principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of the Almighty God who give it and my body I commend to the Earth to be buried in decent Christian burial nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the Mighty power of God and as touching such worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give devise and dispose of the same in the following Manner

Firstly I give unto my dearly beloved Nephew and Nieces Viz John, Mary Ann, Hannah and Sarah Sumner the sum of Fifty pounds each at the time of each of them attaining the age of twenty one years

I likewise give unto my Niece Sarah Sumner aforesaid my best bed and all belonging unto the said bed and the best set of drawers belonging unto me likewise half a dozen silver tea Spoons marked SS two table spoons marked SS the best caddy the parlor Glass and a Mahogany Tea table

I likewise give unto my Niece Mary Ann aforesaid the camp bed and all belonging to it the painted chairs in the best chamber with looking glass wash stand and dressing table in the said Chamber likewise half a dozen silver tea spoons Marked AS and two Large table spoons Marked AS

I also give to my Niece Hannah aforesaid my … up bed and all belonging unto it also the deal chest in the best chamber Oak dining table the half dozen chairs standing in the house and tea caddy

And I also give unto my Nephew aforesaid my bookcase and the drawers they stand upon also a card table and dining table in the parlor the clock standing in the house

I likewise give my books to my Nephews and Nieces Viz Thomas, John, Mary Ann, Hannah and Sarah Sumner to be equally divided amongst them

I also give my Linnen, Glass and China to my three Nieces Viz Mary Ann, Hannah and Sarah aforesaid to be equally divided amongst them

Secondly I give unto my Cousin John Vincent Grocer London the sum of twenty pounds to be paid after my decease

Thirdly I give unto Mary and Ann Pepper the Sum of five pounds with some of my clothes should they live after my decease

Fourthly I give unto Alice Knowls my servant the bed with the checked curtains and all belonging unto

Fifthly I give unto my affectionate Brother Francis Sumner the sum of one Hundred and twenty pounds now in the hands of my Trustees Viz William Shipman Senior and Benjamin Musson

I likewise make and ordain my aforesaid Brother Francis Sumner Executor and Trustee of this my last will and testament and I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and disannul all and every other ratifying and comprising this and no other to be my last will and testament

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this thirtieth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty eight

Francis Sumner of the Parish of Stathern in the County of Leicester Farmer the Sole Executor In the will named was duly sworn to the truth and faithful execution of the same as usual and that the goods chattels and credits of the deceased do not amount in value to the sum of four Hundred and fifty Pounds and that the deceased died on the Thirtieth day of May last past
