Scarecrows 2020 – Strange Times …

2020 would have been the 20th Hickling Scarecrow Weekend (Porcelain/China in wedding anniversary terms) but 2020 is not a normal year. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic all social events have been cancelled for months and months; social-distancing and hand washing are our main defence and the watch-words of the year.

(02/09/20) The Clangers are the first scarecrows to re-appear; standing outside the Village Hall as the Pre-School re-opens and tightly controlled events begin to emerge:

(9/9/2020): Sadly, the Covid situation hasn’t eased enough to allow for a village-only style Scarecrow Weekend – it would have been lovely to wander up & down the village and catch-up with each other after months of lockdown and restrictions and guidelines but it isn’t to be. Typically, the weather forecast is amazing – sun and temperatures in the 30s!

So, in 2020 there is no Scarecrow Weekend – we hope to return in 2021:
