Thomas Scarborough of Scalford 1771 Will

This is the last Will and Testament of me Thomas Scarborough of Scalford in the County of Leicester Labourer

First I desire to be buried in a private and decent Manner, And as for my Worldly Estate which hath pleased God to bless me with (if the same can be obtained and recovered of my Brother George Scarborough, Joseph Berridge of the Borough of Leicester in the said County of Leicester Joiner and Carpenter and others Amounting in the whole to the sum of One Hundred pounds and Upwards) Then I give and dispose thereof as follows

In the first place I give and bequeath unto my three Brothers William Scarborough, George Scarborough, and Matthew Scarborough, the Sum of One Shilling a peice to be paid to them and Each of them by my Executor herein after named imediately after my decease

And Also I give and bequeath unto my Six Sisters Elizabeth Burton, Alice Hickling, Mary Clark, Frances Preston, Sarah Garton, and Ruth Scarborough, the sum of one Shilling a peice to be paid to them and Each of them imediately after my decease by my said Executor

And Also I give and bequeath to my Nephew John Belton the sum of Ten pounds to be paid him when and as soon as he attains his Age of Twenty one years by my said Executor

And Also I give and bequeath unto my Neice Jane Scarborough the Natural Daughter of my said sister Jane Scarborough [sic] the sum of Ten pounds to be paid her when and as soon as she shall attain her Age of Twenty one years by my said Executor

And Also all the rest and residue of my Goods Stock Cattle Chattells Rights Credits and personal Estate of what kind or Nature soever my Debts Legacies and Funeral Expences being first paid and discharged I give and bequeath unto all and every the Child and Children of my said Sister Alice Hickling the now Wife of Francis Hickling of Scalford aforesaid Grazier to be equally divided between them Share and Share alike

And Lastly I do hereby Appoint my said Brother in Law Francis Hickling Sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament desiring of  him to be very mindfull in the Execution of this my said Will so to use all such Legal ways & means for the Recovery of all and every my said Debts revoking all former Wills by me att any time heretofore made

In Witness whereof I the said Thomas Scarborough the Testator have hereto set my hand and seal this Tenth day of August in the Year of our Lord one Thousand and Seven Hundred and Seventy

Sealed Delivered and Published by the said Thomas Scarborough the Testator In the presence of us who have at his request and in his presence and in the presence of Each other set our hands as Witnesses to the due Execution of this his said Will The above razures being first made
