This is the last Will and Testament of me James Rouse of Hose in the County of Leicester Farmer

I Give to my Nephew John Rouse To his Wife Mary Rouse To my Nephew James Rouse and to his Wife Hannah Rouse the sum of Nineteen pounds and nineteen shillings each

To James Rouse (Son of my Nephew Thomas Rouse) the sum of Ten pounds

To the daughter of my Niece Clara Mary Wilson the sun of Nineteen pounds and nineteen shillings to be paid to her at the age of twenty one years but in case she should die under that age I direct the said Legacy to be paid to her Mother

To my Niece Ann Rouse (Daughter of my Brother John Rouse) To my Niece Mary Wilson and to her Husband John Wilson the sum of Nineteen pounds and nineteen shillings each

To John Gray (Son of my Niece Ellen Gray) the sum of Ten pounds

To my Nephew Thomas Rouse and to his Wife Ann Rouse the sum of Ten pounds each

To my Niece Ann Rouse (Daughter of my Brother Thomas Rouse) the sum of Ten pounds

To my Niece Ann Foster the sum of Nineteen pounds and nineteen shillings

To my Nephews John Hardy Thomas Hardy and Paul Hardy the sum of Ten pounds each

To the Widow of my Nephew William Hardy the sum of Ten pounds

To Rebekah Whittle Widow of my Nephew John Whittle To my Nephew Linney Whittle To my Nieces Elizabeth Jackson Widow and Caroline the Wife of George Starbuck the sum of Ten pounds each

To the two Daughters of Ann Kemp the sum of Five pounds each and To my Nephews Thomas Perkins Jasper Perkins and William Perkins the sum of Ten pounds each

All which said Legacies I direct to be paid to the several Legatees by my Executors hereinafter named at the expiration of twelve calendar months next after my death

I Give and bequeath unto my Nephew the above named James Rouse of Humberstone in the County of Leicester Farmer John Jackson of Harby in the said County of Leicester Butcher William Sharp of Holwell in the said County of Leicester Shoemaker and John Sumner of Stathern in the said County of Leicester Farmer (hereinafter called Trustees) their executors and administrators All the residue of my personal Estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever Upon Trust and I hereby give to my Trustees or the Survivors or Survivor of them his Executors or Administrators full power to carry on my Farm and conduct the same according to the best of their judgment and upon Further Trust to pay the Interest and profits arising from the residue of my said personal Estate unto my Wife Sarah and her assigns for and during the term of her natural life and from and after the death of my said Wife I give the residue of my said personal Estate and Effects in manner following that is to say

To the children of my Wife’s Sister Elizabeth Sharp namely the said William Sharp Robert Sharp Richard Sharp Sarah Eliza the wife of George Brown Mary Ann the Wife of William Bates and Elizabeth the Wife of George Knott the sum of Nineteen pounds and nineteen shillings each

To John Brooks of Nether Broughton Shoemaker To Elizabeth his Wife and to their Daughter Emma the sum of Nineteen pounds and nineteen shillings each

To William Stubbs of Portsmouth near Todmorden Miner the sum of Ten pounds and To his Son William Stubbs the sum of Nineteen pounds and nineteen shillings

And the remainder of the residue of my said personal Estate and Effects to be divided amongst the said John Rouse and Mary his Wife, James Rouse and Hannah his Wife James Rouse the Daughter of my Niece Clara Mary Wilson (but in case of her death under the age of twenty one years her share to go to her said Mother) Ann Rouse Mary Wilson and John Wilson John Gray Thomas Rouse and Ann his Wife Ann Rouse Ann Foster John Hardy Thomas Hardy Paul Hardy the Widow of William Hardy Rebekah Whittle Linney Whittle Elizabeth Jackson Caroline Starbuck the two Daughters of Ann Kemp Thomas Perkins Jasper Perkins and William Perkins in addition to and in the same proportion to the several Legacies hereinbefore given to them and I direct the last mentioned Legacies to be paid at the Expiration of twelve Calendar Months after the death of my said Wife

And I appoint the said James Rouse, John Jackson, William Sharp and John Sumner joint Executors of this my Will

Proved at Leicester the twenty fifth day of November 1873 by the Oaths of James Rouse Nephew of the deceased John Jackson William Sharpe (in the Will written Sharp) and John Sumner the Executors to whom administration was granted

The Testator James Rouse was late of Hose in the County of Leicester Farmer and died on the fifth day of August 1873 at Hose aforesaid
