Thomas Read of Nether Broughton 1834 Will

This is the last Will and Testament of me Thomas Read of the Parish of Nether Broughton in the County of Leicester Farmer and Grazier

I direct all my just debts funeral and testamentary expences to be fully paid

I Give Devise and bequeath All my Real and Personal Estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature or kind the same may be of which I shall die possessed with their and every of the Rights members and appurtenances unto my own Cousins William Urry George Urry and Elizabeth the wife of Robert Attenburrow their heirs executors administrators and assigns for ever as Tenants in common and not as joint Tenants Subject to the payment of the following legacies and Annuity

I Give unto my brother George Read An Annuity or yearly sum of Twenty pounds payable half yearly during the Term of his natural life the first payment thereof to be made on either the fifth day of April or the tenth day of October which shall first happen after my decease And I give him the same power of enforcing payment thereof as Landlords have for obtaining Rent in arrear And I subject and charge all my said Real and personal Estate with the true payment thereof

I Give unto my Relation Elizabeth Marriott the wife of the late Robert Marriott of Old Dalby the Sum of Fifty pounds

I Give unto my Housekeeper Mary Giles the sum of One hundred pounds free and clear of all Stamp Duty payable thereout

I Give unto my Godchildren John the Son of Joseph Wright Michael Joshua Branston the son of Thomas Branston Thomas Parlby the Son of Hugh Parlby and Ann the Daughter of John Stone all of Nether Broughton aforesaid the Sum of Five pounds apiece

All which legacies I will shall be paid to each of the said legatees at the end of Twelve Months after my decease except such of them as be under the Age of Twenty one years Then to such minors when and as they attain the Age of Twenty one years the Interest thereof in the meantime to be applied for their mutual benefit

I hereby appoint the said William Urry George Urry and Elizabeth Attenburrow Joint Executors and Executrix of this my last Will and Testament hereby Revoking all former Wills by me made

In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this Twenty fifth day of February one thousand eight hundred and thirty four

Signed sealed published and declared by the said Testator Thomas Read as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have at his Request in his presence and in the presence of each other set our hands as witnesses to the due execution thereof

Let a Probate be made to William Urry of Nether Broughton Lodge in the parish of Nether Broughton in the County of Leicester Farmer and Grazier and George Urry of Nottingham Grocer and Tallow Chandler the Executors named in the will of the deceased with power of making the like Grant to Elizabeth the wife of Robert Attenburrow of Nottingham aforesaid Commission Agent the Executrix when she shall apply for the same decd died 28th Feby last

They the said William Urry and George Urry having been duly sworn as well to the faithful Execution of the Will as that the testator’s Goods Chattels and Credits without deducting any debts owing by the deceased therefrom did not amount in value to the Sum of One thousand and five hundred Pounds
