In the name of god amen I Joane Pike of Scallford in the countie of Leicester Widow the thirtieth day of November Anno Dom 1640 being somewhat weake and sickly in body but of good and perfect memory (god been praised therefore) doe ordaine my last will and testament in manner and forme following vizt
First I give and bequeath my soule to allmightie god my creator hopeing assuredly through the onely merits of Christ Jesus my Saviour to be partaker of life everlasting And my body I doe give and bequeath to the earth from whence it was taken to be buried in Christian burial in the churchyard of the parish of Scallford at the discretion of my executor
And for the worldly goods wherewith god hath endowed mee I dispose of them in manner and forme following Vizt
The thirds of the goods due to mee out of the estate of Edward Pike my late husband deceased I say the sayd thirds for which suite hath beene commenced, I doe give them or soe much of them as shall be yielded or recovered to be my right and due unto my two sonns in law William Kirke of Scallford afforesaid and Thomas Horsley of Thollerton [sic] in the County of Nottingham husbandman (the costs & charges of the said suite being first deducted defaulked and payd to William Kirke whoe hath at my request disbursed and laide out the same) to bee equally divided betwixt them
I doe give to sixe of the poorest widowes in Scallford three pence a peece
And my funerall charges & expences being first defrayed & discharged all the rest and remainder of my goods cattell & Chattells whatsoever I doe give and bequeath the same unto my said two sonns in law William Kirke & Thomas Horsley whom I doe constitute & appoint to be the ioint & onely executors of this my last will & testament
& thus revokeing all former Wills by mee made, I doe constitute & appoint this to bee my Last Will and testament witness my hand & seale hereunto put the day & yeare above written
