In the name of god Amen the nynthe day of July in the first yeare of the raygne of our Soveraygne Lord Charles, by the grace of god of England, Scotland, France and Ireland Kinge, defender of the faith &c I Edward Pike of Coulston Bassett in the Countie of Nottingham, beinge somewhat weake in Bodye, yet of perfect memory (praysed bee god) doe make this my last will & testament in maner & forme followeinge

First, I bequeave my soule into the hands of almightie god, hopeinge to be saved by the onely merits of Christ my saviour and my bodie to bee buried in the Church yard of Coulston Bassett abovesaied

Itm I give unto & bequeave Johne Pike my wife, liewe of her thirdes, which is dewe unto her, by the Costome of the province of Yorke the third parte of all my goodes

Itm I give & bequeave unto Margaret Pike my daughter the some of Thirtie poundes, viz: to the valewe of Tenn pounds in househoulde goods, & Twentie pounds in Currant Englishe money, in full contentation of her Childs parte

It I give & bequeave to Elizabeth Pike my daughter, the like some of Thirtie pounds, that is to say, to the valewe of tenn pounds, in howsehould goods & Twentie pounds in Currant Englishe money, in full Contentation of her Childs part

Itm I give and bequeave to Alice Pike my daughter, the lik some of thirtie pounds that is to say to the valewe of Ten pounds in househould goods, & the sume of Twentie pounds, in Currant Englishe money, in ful Contentation of her Childs parte

Itm I give & bequeave to John Feeldinge, & to Dorothy Feeldinge his wife & there Children, every one of them twelve pence

It I give and to Roger Thurseby my kinsman twelve pence

Itim I give and bequeave to William Ch… my Servant twelve pence

Itim I desire Thomas Finnes & Edwarde Clarke to be the Supervisors of this my will & I give to either of them sixe pence

Itim I give and bequeave to Richard Pike my sonne my brewinge Lead, and mault querns

The rest of my goods, not given and bequeaved before, my debts, Legacies and funeral expences being first payed & discharged, I give them all to Richard Pike my sonne, And I make him the sole execator of this my last will & testament

It would seem likely that the inventory of Edward Pike of Long Clawson relates to the same person – this testator had seemingly moved to Leicestershire since probate had been granted in that jurisdiction and the inventory included goods at Colston Bassett
