This is the last Will and Testament of me William Pick of Ab Kettleby in the County of Leicester Miller made this Twenty fifth day of January in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Three as follows (that is to say)

In the first place I Give and Devise All that my Messuage or Tenement with the Orchard and appurtenances situate at Ab Kettleby aforesaid and now in the tenure or Occupation of John Tuckwood And also All that my other Messuage or Tenement with the appurtenances situate and being in Ab Kettleby aforesaid and now in the tenure or Occupation of John Brown And also All that Close or Ground inclosed situate also within the Fields or Lordship of Ab Kettleby aforesaid called or known by the name of the Yearling Leys and containing Two Acres and two Roods or thereabouts (be the same more or less) unto my Seven Sons John Pick Thomas Pick Richard Pick George Pick Abraham Pick Daniel Pick and Edward Pick and their Heirs and Assigns for ever equally to be divided between them share and share alike to take as Tenants in Common and not as joint Tenants

Also I Give and bequeath unto my Ten younger Children namely Ann Pick Mary Pick Elizabeth Pick John Pick Thomas Pick Richard Pick George Pick Abraham Pick Daniel Pick and Edward Pick the Sum of One hundred Pounds apiece to be paid to them respectively as they shall severally attain their Ages of Twenty One Years and raised in manner hereinafter mentioned out of my Messuage or Tenement and Five Closes or Grounds inclosed situate at Ab Kettleby aforesaid and hereinafter more particularly described Provided always and my Will is that my Trustees hereinafter named shall have power to apply such Sum or Sums of Money paid of the said several Sums of One hundred Pounds a piece as they shall think proper in putting out any of my said Children Apprentices

And in Case any or either of my said Children shall happen to depart this Life before he she or they shall have attained the said Age of Twenty One Years Then my Will is that the Legacies of him her or them so dying so much thereof as shall not have been applied in putting him her or them out Apprentice as aforesaid shall go to and be paid equally amongst the Survivors of them as they shall severally attain the Age of Twenty One Years

And I do hereby Give and Devise All that my said Messuage or Tenement with the Yard Garden and appurtenances thereto belonging And also all those my said Five Closes or Grounds inclosed called by the several names of the Redearth the Mill Close the Marl Pit Close the Well Lane Close and the Clay Close containing together Seventy four Acres or thereabout (be the same more or less) situate and being in the Fields Liberty or Lordship of Ab Kettleby aforesaid now in my own Occupation

And also all other my Real Estate situate lying or being in the parish of Ab Kettleby aforesaid or elsewhere within the Kingdom of Great Britain not herein before disposed of unto my dear Wife Mary Pick Thomas Keal of Melton Mowbray in the said County of Leicester Miller and Richard Sharpe of Melton Mowbray aforesaid Innholder their Executors Administrators and Assigns for the Term of One Thousand Years Upon Trust nevertheless and to the Intent and purpose that they the said Mary Pick Thomas Keal and Richard Sharpe or the Survivor of them or the Executors or Administrators of such Survivor do and shall from time to time raise and take up at Interest such Sum and Sums of Money as shall be necessary for paying and satisfying the said Legacies hereinbefore by me bequeathed or otherwise as aforesaid together with such further Sum or Sums of Money as shall be sufficient to satisfy the Charges and expences of my said Trustees in raising such Sum and Sums of Money as aforesaid

And for the Securing the repayment of the said Sum and Sums of Money with Interest to Mortgage Lease or Demise or otherwise Subject my said last mentioned Estate at Ab Kettleby or any part or parts thereof to any person or persons who shall advance and lend them any Money thereon for the purposes aforesaid his her and their Executors Administrators and Assigns for all or any part of the said Term of One Thousand Years So as every such Mortgage Lease or Demise be made with the Proviso or Condition to cease and be void Or with an express Trust to be surrendered when the Sum or Sums of Money thereby Secured with the Interest thereof shall be fully paid and satisfied

And from and immediately after the expiration or other sooner determination of the said Term of One Thousand Years and subject thereunto I Give and Devise All my said last mentioned Messuage or Tenement Closes or Grounds inclosed unto my Son William Pick his Heirs and Assigns for ever Subject nevertheless to the Term of One Thousand Years And also subject to and Charged and Chargeable with the Annuity and other Incumbrances hereinafter mentioned (that is to say)

I Give devise and bequeath unto my dear Wife Mary Pick and her Assigns for and during the Term of her natural Life in case she shall so long continue my Widow and unmarried One Annuity or clear yearly Rent or Sum of Ten pounds free and clear of all deductions whatsoever to be issuing and payable out of all and every my said last mentioned Messuage or Tenement several Closes or Grounds inclosed hereditaments and premises so as aforesaid give and devised to the said Mary Pick Thomas Keal and Richard Sharpe for the said Term of One thousand Years and subject there unto my said Son William Pick his Heirs and Assigns for ever by four quarterly payments (to wit) the Twenty fifth day of March the Twenty fourth day of June the Twenty Ninth Day of September and the Twenty first day of December in every Year by even and equal portions The first payment thereof to begin and be made on the first of the said days of payment which shall first happen after my decease

And I do hereby charge and make Chargeable my said last mentioned Messuage or Tenement several Closes or Grounds inclosed hereditaments and premises with the payment of the said Annuity or yearly Rent or Sum or Ten pounds accordingly

And my Mind and Will is that in Case the said Annuity or Yearly Rent of Ten pounds or any part thereof shall be behind or unpaid by the space of Twenty days next over or after any of the said days of payment whereon the same ought to have been paid as aforesaid Then and so often it shall and may be lawful to and for the said Mary Pick and her Assigns to enter into and upon all and every or any part of the said premises charged with the said Annuity as aforesaid and distrain for the same or for so much thereof as shall be so in Arrear and all Costs and Charges as shall be occasioned by the non payment thereof

Provided always and my Mind and Will is That my said dear Wife Mary Pick shall have the exclusive Use and enjoyment of the Chamber called Grandfathers Chamber in the said Messuage or Tenement as aforesaid Given to my said Son William Pick with all the necessary Rights of free passage to and from the same for and during the Term of her natural Life in Case she shall so long continue my Widow and unmarried

Provided also and my Will is That my said Son William Pick his Heirs and Assigns shall out of the Rents and profits of my said Estate so devised to him as aforesaid find and provide for my said Ten Younger Children during their respective Minorities sufficient Meat Drink Washing Lodging and wearing Apparel In consideration of their not receiving any Interest upon their respective Legacies until they respectively attain the Age of Twenty One years

Also I Give all the rest residue and remainder of my Monies Securities for Monies Household Goods Furniture plate Linen China ware Stock Crops Implements of Husbandry Goods Chattels and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever unto my said Son William Pick to and for his own use and benefit

And I do hereby nominate and appoint him sole Executor of this my Will hereby declaring void all former and other Wills at any time heretofore by me made

And my Will and I do hereby declare my Mind [small hole] my said Trustees or either of them their or either of their Heirs Executors or Administrators shall not be Charged or Chargeable with or accountable for more of the aforesaid Monies than he or they shall actually receive or shall come to his or their respective hands by virtue of this my Will or for any Loss which shall happen of the said Monies or any part thereof so as such Loss happen without their wilful default not the One of them for the other of them or for the Acts Receipts neglects Disbursements or defaults of the other of them but each of them only for his own Act Receipt Neglect Disbursement or default

In Witness whereof I the said William Pick the Testator have to this my Will contained in three Sheets of Paper to the two first Sheets thereof set my hand and to the third and last my Hand and Seal the day and Year first above Written

Let probat be granted to William Pick the sole Executor of the within written will he being sworn to the due execution therefore & also made oath that the whole of the Testator’s personal estate, and the time of his death, did not amount to six hundred pounds
