John Pears of Long Clawson 1852 Will

This is the last Will and Testament of me John Pears of Claxton otherwise Long Clawson in the County of Leicester Inn holder

I give and devise my house with the appurtenances in Hose in the County of Leicester and also my Closes in Claxton otherwise Long Clawson aforesaid near to the Canal and containing fifteen acres or thereabouts unto my oldest Son James Pears his heirs and assigns for ever

I give and devise my house Yard Garden and Appurtenances which I purchase of Richard Julian and also my Cottage and four acres of Land which I purchased of William Hall and all situate in Claxton otherwise Long Clawson aforesaid unto my youngest Son John Pears his heirs and Assigns for ever Subject nevertheless to the Payment of the Legacies hereinafter mentioned to be charged on the said Premises devised to my Son John

I give and bequeath to my Daughter Keturah Fillingham One hundred Pounds To my Grandson Frederick Pears S… Fifteen Pounds To my Grandson William Cooke Fifty Pounds and to my Granddaughter Facy Cooke Fifty Pounds

I direct my youngest Son John to pay the said Legacies at the Expiration of twelve Months from my Death to such of the said Legatees as shall then be of age, and to such of them as shall be under age when they have respectively attained the age of twenty one Years

I direct my Son John during the joint lives of himself and my Granddaughter Eliza Johnson to pay into the hands of the said Eliza Johnson one shilling per Week this allowance to be free from the controul or Debts of her husband

I give and bequeath all my Money and personal Estate and Effects to my said Son John Pears and I appoint him sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament

In Witness whereof I the said John Pears the Testator have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand this ninth day of September one Thousand eight hundred and forty five

This is a Codicil to the Will of me the above named Testator John Pears

I give and devise all that newly erected Messuage or Tenement and Outbuildings with Butcher’s Shop Stable Fasting House and small piece of Ground containing fourteen perches or thereabouts in Long Clawson aforesaid and all other the Premises which I have lately purchased of my eldest Son unto and to the use of my youngest Son the said John Pears the younger his heirs and assigns for ever

In witness whereof I the said John Pears the testator have to this Codicil to my last Will and testament set my hand this fourth day of March One thousand eight hundred and forty eight

John Pears of Claxton otherwise Long Clawson in the County of Leicester Innholder the sole Executor in his Will and Codicil named was duly sworn to the Truth and faithful Performance thereof as usual and that the Goods Chattels and Credits of the deceased do not among in value to the Sum of Fifty Pounds and that the deceased died on the first day of February last past
