In the Name of God Amen I John Parnham of Hose in the County of Leicester Husbandman Do this Twentieth day of November in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven hundred and fifty nine make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner following

First I Resign my Soul into the Hands of Almighty God my Creator and my Body I Committ to the Earth to be decently interred at the discretion of my Executrixes herein after Named

And as for such Temporal Estate which it hath pleased God to bestow upon me I Give and dispose of the same as followeth (that is to say)

I Give and devise all those Rooms or places part of my Dwelling House in Hose aforesaid hereinafter mentioned to wit the Parlour wherein there is a fire place with the Chamber and Garratt over the Same Also The Ale Cellar and one Room over the same and a place under the great Stairs with the priviledge to go up and down the Best Stairs unto and from the said Chambers And also the free use of the Kitchen to Wash and Brew in And Also that half part of the Orchard lying on the North or North West side of the said Messuage or Tenement and a little Garden under the House windows unto my Beloved wife Elizabeth Parnham for and during the Term of her Natural Life if she so long continues my widow and thinks fit to live in and occupy the same in her own person But from and after her decease or Second Marriage or her refusing to live in the same in her own person Then I will and direct that the said premisses shall go along and be occupied in such and the same Manner and by such person and persons to whom I shall hereby devise the other part of my said dwelling House

Also I hereby further will and direct that my said wife and her Servants shall have the free use of the well standing within the yard of my said dwelling House And also free passage to and from the said Orchard and Rooms as often as there shall be occasion All which shall be occupied by my said Wife in Manner as aforesaid without paying any Rent or Acknowledgement for the Same

Also I Give and devise after the decease or Second Marriage of my said wife or after her departure from the said premisses All and Singular the abovesaid premisses unto my Sister Ann Lammings and my Sister Elizabeth Stokes and to their Heirs to take as Tenants in Common and not as Joint Tenants

Also I Give and devise All and Singular the other part of the said Messuage or Tenement or dwelling House with all out Buildings Barns Stables Orchards Homesteads Gardens Yards and premisses to the same belonging And also All those my four Oxgangs of Land lying dispersedly within the open and Common fields of Hose aforesaid And also All other my Lands Tenements Closes Hereditaments and premisses Scituate and lying in Hose aforesaid now in my own possession and in the Possession of my Nephew Henry Stokes and others unto my said Sister Ann Lammings and my said Sister Elizabeth Stokes and to their Heirs to Take as Tenants in Common and not as Joint Tenants Subject Nevertheless to the Payment of one Annuity or yearly Rent Charge of Twenty pounds which I hereby make Chargeable and payable out of the same in manner following (that is to say)

The said Annuity or yearly Rent Charge of Twenty pounds unto my beloved wife Elizabeth Parnham for and during the Term of her Natural Life by two half yearly Payments in the year to wit on Lady day and Michaelmas day The first payment thereof to begin and to be made at such of the said days of Payment as shall first happen next after my decease And upon Non payment thereof I give unto my said wife and her Assignes full power and Authority to enter into and upon the said premisses made Subject to the said Annuity of Twenty pounds and to distrain for the same all or any of the Goods Cattle and Chattles Crops of Corn Grain and Hay which shall be found or grow upon the premisses and to make Sale thereof to Raise and pay the said Annuity or yearly Rent Charge of Twenty pounds so given and made payable unto my said Wife for her life togethers with all such costs and charges as shall arise and become Necessary to be paid on Account of such distress

Also I Give and devise unto my Nephew Henry Lammings his Heirs and Assigns for ever All That Close of Meadow or pasture ground with their and every of their Appurtenances lying and being in the Lordship of Hose aforesaid commonly called or known by the Name of the South West Hay Close containing by Estimation or commonly reputed to be one Acre and an half of ground or thereabouts be the same more or less and now in my own Tenure or Occupation

Also I Give and devise unto my Nephew John Stokes and to his Heirs and Assigns for ever All that other Close of Meadow or pasture ground with their and every of their Appurtenances lying and being in the Lordship of Hose aforesaid commonly called or known by the Name of the North East Hay Close containing by Estimation One Acre and an half or thereabouts be the same more or less and now in my own Possession

Also I Give and Bequeath unto my said wife Elizabeth Parnham One hundred pounds To my Nephews and Nieces John Stokes Alice Shilcock Elizabeth Julian William Lammings Henry Lammings and Fortune Lammings the Sum of Twenty [word missing] a piece

Also I Give unto George Julian Grandson of my sister Elizabeth Stokes Twenty pounds

All which Legacies I will to be paid out of my personal Estate within Twelve Months after my decease

Also I Give and Bequeath unto my Nephew and Niece William March and Elizabeth March the Sum of Ten pounds apiece to be paid them at their respective Ages of Twenty one Years or days of Marriage which shall first happen

Also I Give unto the Church Wardens and overseers of the poor of Hose aforesaid and their Successors for the time being the Sum of Twenty pounds to be placed at Interest and the Interest and produce thereof to be yearly distributed amongst the Poor of Hose aforesaid on Christmas day for ever

Also I Give and bequeath unto my said Dear and Loving wife Elizabeth All my Household Goods Plate and Linnen for her own use

Also All the rest and Residue of my Goods Cattle Chattles and personal Estate of what kind soever the same is and not herein before disposed of my Debts Legacys and funerall Expences being first thereout paid and discharged I Give and bequeath the same unto my said Two Sisters Ann Lammings and Elizabeth Stokes whom I do hereby appoint Executrixes of this my last Will and Testament hereby Revoaking all former Wills and Testaments by me at any time heretofore made declaring this to be my last Will and Testament

In Witness whereof I the said John Parnham the Testator have to this my last Will and Testament Containing Two Sheets of Paper Set my hand and Seal to each Sheet this Seven and Twentieth day of November in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven hundred and fifty Nine
