The 25 daye of September 1627

In the name of God Amen I John Pares of Ab Kettlebye in the County of Leic Laborer considering with my self the certaintye of death and the uncertaintye of the tyme thereof and knowinge howe unfitt it is at the poynte of deathe to bee troubled withe worldly affayres doe nowe in my health and perfecte memorye make and ordayne this my last will and Testament in manner and forme followeinge

First and above all things I bequeath my Soule into the hands of Allmightye God my Creator and of Jesus Christe my Redeemer and of the Holye Ghoste my Comfortor, and bodye to bee buryed in all comelye manner in the Churche or Church yeard of Ab Kettlebye aforesayed

Itm I gyve the xx li which Mr John Neale late of Ab Kettlebye owethe unto mee to Elizab: Pares James Pares John Pares and Robt Pares to bee devided amongst them by equall porcons

Itm I gyve to Robt Pares my Sonne fyve pounds which Gregory Deacon of Hose in the County of Leic husbandman owethe unto mee and one Ewe and Lambe

Itm I gyve to Elizabeth Pares my wyfe iiii li which John Crosse owethe mee, one Cowe and the best Cubbard and one Oade Lambe

Itm I give to John Pares my Sonne iiii li which Henrye Piget of Holwell oweth unto mee and one newe Coffer

Itm I gyve to Agnes Frecke one Ewe and a Lambe

Itm I gyve to John Pares my Sonne one Ewe and a Lambe and fyve pounds of money which Mr Willm Neal oweth unto mee

Item I make Robte Pares my brother the Sole Extor of this my laste will and Testament That hee maye distribute the rest of my goods and Cattells as he shall thinke Convenyente by equall porcons, that is to saye to Elizabethe Pares my Wyfe to John Pares and Robert Pares my Sonnes and to nine other sole

I revoke all former wills and confirm this
