Thomas Palmer of Old Dalby 1853 will

This is the Last will and Testament of me Thomas Palmer of Old Dalby in the County of Leicester Yeoman

I give and bequeath the whole of my Personal Property which I die possessed of to be devided equally my debts and funeral expences being first paid amongst my four daughters Mary Sarah Susan and Ann and the children of my son Thomas deceased the children of the said Thomas to receive one share devided equally amongst them My daughter Sarah has already received of me twenty pounds which I wish to be reckoned as a portion of her share

In case John Palmer son of Thomas Palmer foresaid be accepted as tenant in my stead after my death which I desire in order that a house may be provided for the children of Thomas Palmer deceased In that case I desire that he enter upon the land without any valuation of the crops But in case John Palmer is not accepted tenant I direct that the crops as well as the rest of my Personal property be sold by Auction and equally divided as aforesaid amongst my four daughters aforesaid and the children of my son Thomas

I desire that my affairs may be settled within six months after my decease

I appoint the Revd Mr G Sawyer and Mr John Gill as Trustees of the property which I bequeath to two of Thomas Palmers children who are under age

In witness thereof I the said Thomas Palmer the testator hereunto set my hand this third day of June eighteen hundred & fifty three

Signed published and declared by the said Thomas Palmer the testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses

On the 29th Decr 1853 Admon (with the Will annexed) of the goods chattels and cedits of Thomas Palmer late of Old Dalby in the County of Leicester … deceased was granted to Susan Bishop (Wife of Matthew Bishop the daughter of the said deceased and one of the residuary Legatees named in the said will she having been first Sworn by Comon duly to administer.  No Executor
