John Palmer of Hose 1848 Will

I John Palmer of Hose in the County of Leicester Cottager being of sound and disposing mind and memory do make and declare this to be my last will and testament in manner following that is to say

I order that all my just debts, funeral expences, and charges of proving this my will be in the first place fully paid and satisfied and after payment thereof, and of every part thereof

I give and bequeath unto my beloved Wife Ann Palmer her executors, administrators and assigns all that my House in which I now reside with yard, garden, blacksmiths shop, cow Hovel and all other the premises thereunto belonging situate and being in the Village of Hose

I also give unto my said Wife Ann Palmer all the rest of my goods, chattels, debts, ready money, effects and other my estate whatsoever and wheresoever, and every part and parcel thereof unto her, her executors, administrators and assigns

And I do hereby nominate, constitute and appoint my said Wife Ann Palmer sole executrix of this my Will hereby revoking and making void all former Wills by me at any time heretofore made and declare this only to be my last will and testament

In witness whereof I the said testator have to this my last will and testament set my hand and seal this nineteenth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty eight

Signed, sealed, published and declared by the said John Palmer as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us who at his request and in his presence have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto

Ann Palmer of the Parish of Hose in the county of Leicester, widow, the sole executrix in this will named was duly sworn to the truth & faithful performance thereof as usual and that the goods, chattels and credits of the deceased without deducting any debts owing by him therefrom do not amount in value to the sum of 100£ and that the said deceased died on the 26th day of February last past

On the 16th October 1848 original Will exhibited before the Revd Jemson Davies Clerk MA and Surrogate and Probate decreed to pass the Seal to the above named Ann Palmer the sole Executrix to whom was granted execution in the presence of

In the Court of the Commissary of the Lord Bishop of Lincoln in and for the Archdeaconry of Leicester Appeared personally Thomas Burnett of Hose in the County of Leicester Farmer and made oath that he is one of the subscribed witnesses to the last will and Testament of John Palmer late of Hose in the County and Archdeaconry of Leicester Cottager deceased bearing date the nineteenth day of February last part now hereunto annexed and marked with the letter (A) and he further made oath that on the nineteenth day of February aforesaid the said Testator duly executed his said last will by signing his Name at the foot or end thereof and sealing publishing and declaring the same as his Will in the presence of this Deponent and of John Burnett of Hose in the County of Leicester Carpenter the other subscribed Witness thereto who were then together present at the same time with the said deceased And this Deponent and the said John Burnett thereupon attested and subscribed the said Will in the presence of the said Testator and of each other

On the 7th day of October in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and forty eight the said Thomas Burnett was duly sworn at Scalford in the County and Archdeaconry of Leicester to the truth of the aforegoing Affidavit
