This will is referred to in Moore Thomas 1748 of Ab Kettleby Will

In the Name of God amen I John Moore of Abb Kettleby in the County of Leicester Grocer Do this Sixteenth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and forty three Make this my Will in Manner following (that is to say)

First I resign my Soul into the hands of almighty God my Creator and my body I committ to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my executors herein after named And as for Such temporal estate which it hath pleased almighty God to bestow upon me I give and dispose of the Same as followes

First I give and Devise all that my Messuage Cottage or Tenement together with the Cottage Common and the half of one Cottage Common thereto belonging And one Yard Land of arable Land Meadow and pasture ground Situate Standing lying and being within the Town fields liberties precincts and territories of Abb Kettleby aforesaid now in the possession of me the Said John Moore and Edward Guy And also all that little house with the appurtenances thereto belonging Situate in Abb Kettleby aforesaid now in the possession of Mary Fewks Widow And also all other the lands tenements and heredittaments of me the said John Moore in Abb Kettleby aforesaid Unto my Son Thomas Moore and William Pick and to their heires In trust nevertheless to be Sold as soon as Conveniently May be after my Death And with the Money arising by such Sale in the first place to pay out of the Same the Sum of Sixty pounds (with Interest for the Same as Shall be due) Unto Mr John Berridge upon Mortgage of the aforesaid Lands And also that they pay out of the Same money arising by Such Sale the Sum of thirty Seven pounds ten Shillings which they the said Thomas Moore and William Pick are become bound for my proper debt Unto Edmund Ludlam Gentleman

And also out of the Money arising by such Sales that they pay all such other Debts as I shall owe at the time of my Death And the overplus money arising by such sales I will that out of the same that they pay Unto my Grandaughter the Daughter of my Son Nicholas Moore the Sum of ten pounds and to my Son William and Daughter Jane the Sum of ten pounds apiece and to my daughter Ann the Sum of twenty pounds

And after payment of the same together with all Charges that my said Trustees shall be putt to or expend about the execution of the aforesaid trust reposed in them I will that the remainder thereof be paid to my Son Thomas Moore provided always it is my Will and Mind that my Wife shall enjoy the aforesaid little house in the possession of the said Mary Fewke for and during the Term of her natural life and afterwards to be Sold for the uses and purposes before mentioned

Also I give unto my said loving Wife Elizabeth all my household goods for the Term of her life and afterwards to be Divided between the said Thomas Moore and William Pick

Also all the rest of my Goods Cattle Chattles and personal Estate of what kind soever I give and bequeath unto the Said Thomas Moore and William Pick whom I hereby appoint full and Sole executors of this my Will hereby revoking all former Wills by me made declaring this to be my last Will and Testament

In Witness whereof I the said John Moore the Testator have hereto set my hand and seale the day and year first above Written

Signed Sealed published and declared by the Said John Moore the Testator for and as his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have Subscribed our names as Witnesses in his presence

The 21st Day of April 1748 Thomas Moore and William Pick the Joint Executors above named were sworn, And at the same time made Oath that all the Deceased’s Personal Estate at this Death was not worth Twenty Pounds
