Edward Moore of Long Clawson 1784 Will

In the Name of God Amen I Edward Moore of Claxton otherwise Long Clawson in the County of Leicester Husbandman being sick in health but of sound and perfect mind and understanding praised be Almighty God for the same Do this seventeenth day of November in the Year of Our Lord One thousand seven hundred and eighty three make this last Will and Testament in manner and forme following (that is to say)

First I resign my Soul into the hands of Almighty God my Creator And my Body I commit to the Earth to be decently Buried at the discretion of my Executor herein after named And as for such Temporal Estate which it hath pleased Almighty God to bless me with I Give and dispose of the same as follows (to wit)

I Give and Devise unto my Son Edward Moore his Heirs and Assigns for Ever All that my Messuage or Tenement with all Appurtenances and priviledges thereunto belonging situate and being in Claxton otherwise Long Clawson aforesaid now in the possession or Tenure of John Kelham

I also Give and Devise unto my Son Edward Moore his Heirs and Assigns for Ever all my share belonging the Wind Mill with all my Right Interest and Title thereto

I Give and bequeath unto my Son William Moore the sum of One shilling

I Give and bequeath unto my Daughter Hannan Chamberlain the Sum of One hundred pounds

I Give and bequeath unto my Son John Moore the Sum of Fifty pounds for which said sum my two Sons Edward Moore and William Moore gave their Join’d Bond (as Security) to my said Sister Sarah Moore Now my further Will is that my Executor herein after named shall pay or cause to be paid to my Sister Sarah Moore (aforesaid) the said Sum of Fifty pounds on the delivery of the aforesaid Bond to my said Executor But provided my Executor do not pay nor cause to me paid to my Sister Sarah Moore the said sum of Fifty pounds then I further Give and bequeath unto my Son William Moore the Sum of Fifty pounds

All which aforesaid Legacies to be paid by my Executor herein after named at the Expiration of Three Years after my decease

Also all the rest residue and remainder of my Goods Cattle Chattels and personal Estate of what nature kind or quality the same may be (my Debts and Funeral expences and the expence of proving this my last Will being first thereout paid and discharged) I Give and bequeath the same unto my Son Edward Moore aforesaid whom I hereby appoint full and Sole Executor of this my Will and I do hereby revoke disannul and make void all former Wills by me made declaring this to be my last Will and Testament

In Witness whereof I the Said Edward Moore the Testator have hereunto set my Hand and Seal the day and year first above writen

Signed sealed published and declared by the said Edward Moore the Testator as and for this last Will and Testament in the presence of us who at his request and in his presence and in the presence of each other subscribed our Names as Witnesses
