This is the last Will and Testament of me Henry Twells Mogridge of Scalford Vicarage in the County of Leicester Clerk in Holy Orders

I Appoint my wife Fanny Mogridge and my sons Henry Theodore Modridge and Edward Courtenay Mogridge (hereinafter called “my Trustees”) to be the Executors and Trustees of this my Will

I Appoint my wife during her life to be Guardian of my infant children and after her death I appoint my Trustees as their Guardians

I Give to my Wife my furniture plate linen horses carriages and other household effects absolutely and I bequeath to her the Legacy of One hundred pounds to be paid to her as soon as possible after my death

I devise the piece of Orchard land containing One rood and thirteen perches situate in the parish of Scalford and numbered 24 on the Tithe Map to my Wife absolutely

And my Son Basil Fullelove West Mogridge having been killed in action at the attack on the Hohenzollern Redoubt I devise to my Wife my messuage and tenement with its appurtenances known as the Cottage Scalford and without creating an express trust I desire that she should leave the same to my daughters jointly if neither is married at the time of her death or if one is so married then to the one who shall be single but if both shall be married in my Wife’s lifetime she is to use her own discretion as to the disposition thereof

I Devise and Bequeath all my real and personal estate not hereby otherwise disposed of unto my Trustees Upon trust to pay the income thereof to my Wife during her life and after her death to stand possessed of my real and personal estate as follows

As to my freehold and copyhold farm and lands situate at Braunston in the County of Northampton In trust for my son Henry Theodore Mogridge as to my land and hereditaments in the parish of Earl Shilton in the County of Leicester In trust for my son Edward Courtenay Mogridge as to the sum of One hundred and fifty pounds in trust for my son Philip James David Mogridge as to the sum of Nine hundred pounds In trust for my daughter Phyllis Ellen Twells Mogridge and as to the sum of Nine hundred pounds In trust for my daughter Isabel Eva Lilian Mogridge and as to the residue of my estate in trust for all my children who being sons shall attain the age of twenty one years or being daughters shall attain that age or marry under it in equal shares as tenants in common

I Declare that my Trustees shall be at liberty during the life of my Wife or the minority of any child entitled thereto to let or demise any of my real estate either from year to year or for a term of years at such rent and subject to such covenants and conditions as they shall think fit to accept surrenders or leases and tenancies to cut timber to expend money in repairs and improvements and generally to manage the property according to their absolute discretion

And I also Declare that the proceeds of any timber sold by my Trustees shall be considered as income and that any money required for repairs or improvements may be raised either out of income or out of the capital of my estate as my Trustees shall under the circumstances think fair and equitable

And I also Declare that my Trustees may with the consent in writing of my said Wife during her life and after her decease at their own discretion raise any part or parts not exceeding one moiety of the vested or presumptive share of any child of mine under this my Will and apply the same for his or her advancement preferment or benefit as my Trustees shall think fit

This is a Codicil to the last Will and Testament of me Henry Twells Mogridge of Scalford Vicarage in the County of Leicester Clerk in Holy Orders which Will bears date the 13th day of November One thousand nine hundred and fifteen

I devise to my Wife my dwelling house called Almondsbury Lodge, 119 Pembroke Road, Clifton, Bristol for her life and after her death I devise the same to my son Edward Courtenay Mogridge absolutely

In all other respects I confirm my said Will

In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this twenty seventh day of August One thousand nine hundred and nineteen

This is a Second Codicil to the Will of me Henry Twells Mogridge of Scalford Vicarage Melton Mowbray in the County of Leicester Clerk in Holy Orders which Will bears date the Thirteenth day of November One thousand nine hundred and fifteen

Whereas by my Will I bequeathed a Legacy of Nine hundred pounds to my daughter Isabel Eva Lilian Mogridge who has recently died a Spinster And Whereas I have by my said Will bequeathed a Legacy of One hundred and fifty pounds to my son Philip James David Mogridge Now I hereby revoke the Legacy of One hundred and fifty pounds to my son Philip James David Mogridge and I bequeath to him a Legacy of Five hundred pounds in lieu of the said Legacy of One hundred and fifty pounds

In all other respects I confirm my said Will

In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this twenty sixth day of February One thousand nine hundred and twenty one
