Francis Martin of Eaton 1737 Will and Inventory

In the name of God Amen I Francis Martin of Eaton in the County of Leicester Farmer being weak in Body but of a Sound And perfect Memory (Blessed be God for it) Do Make this my last Will and Testament this twenty sixth day of October in the Year 1737

First I Recommend my Soule into the hands of Almighty God

Secondly I commend my Body to the Earth to be Decently Buryed at the Discression of my Executor hereafter Mentioned

And when my Debts and Funeral Expences are all paid & Discharged I Give the Residue of my Worldly Goods which it hath pleased God to possess me of (viz)

Impris I Give and Bequeathe to Martha Yates Relict of Mr Charles Yates of Barkston my Eldest Daughter the Sum of one Shilling

Item I give and Bequeathe to Ann Dixon the wife of James Dixon of Eastwell my Second Daughter the Sum of one Shilling

Item I give and Bequeathe to Margaret Elston the wife of Thomas Elston of Scalford my third Daughter the Sum of one Shilling

Item I Give and Bequeath to Dorothy Caunt the wife of William Caunt of Eaton my fifth Daughter the Sum of one Shilling

Item I give and Bequeath to Thomas Martin my Eldest Son the Sum of one Shilling

Item I Give to Vincent Martin my Second Son the Sum of one Shilling

Item I Give to John Sherwood my Son in Law the Sum of one Shilling

Item I Give and Bequeathe to Frances Martin my Youngest Daughter one pair of Bedsteads, one feather Bed, one feather Bolster, two feather pillows, four pairs of Hempen Sheets, and two pair of flaxen Sheets, three Blankets, one Coverlid, with the Sett of Blew & white hangings (Plodd) Belonging to the said Bed as it Now Stands in the Little parlour with in my Dwelling house at Eaton aforesd

Also I Give and Bequeathe to the said Frances my youngest Daughter the Sum of Six pounds of Lawfull Money per Annum For and During her Natural Life (viz) Three pounds to be paid to her my youngest Daughter By my Executor (hereafter Mentioned) him his heirs Executors Administrators or assigns at the End of the first Six Months after my Decease (be it when ever it shall please God to take me to his Mercy) And also Three pounds more at the end of next Six Months: which will make up the Sum of Six pounds for the first year after my Decease; And so to be paid Three pounds Every half year as it shall become due from the time of my Decease, for and During the Natural Life of her the said Frances Martin my youngest Daughter And it is my Will and Desire that the said Sum of Six pounds of Lawfull Money be faithfully & punctually paid or Caused to be paid By two half yearly payments (as above Mentioned) by My Executor him his heirs Executors Administrators or Assigns Them or any of them According to the true Intent and Meaning of this my Last Will and Testament

And if the said Frances Martin shall happen to Die before the half year which then shall be: becoming Due be Expired then the Sum which is Due from the Last half Year to the day of her Death shall be paid proportionably According to Six pounds per Annum as aforesd By My Executor him his heirs Executors Administrators or assigns or any of them According to the true Intent and Meaning of this my last Will and Testament

Also my Will and Desire is that the said Frances Martin my youngest Daughter shall have previlidge & Liberty & power to Give and Dispose of to who or to whome she shall think proper the further Sum of Tenn pounds of Lawfull Money (besides the Six pounds per Annum Aforesaid) And to be paid in the Space of twelve months after her Decease by my Executor his heirs Executors Administrators or Assigns or Any of them to whom or whom she the said Frances Martin shall Give or Bequeathe the foresaid Sum of Ten pounds unto in her Life time According to the true intent and meaning of this my Last Will and Testament

Item all the Rest and Residue of my Goods, Chattels, and personall Estate whatsoever I Give and Bequeathe unto my well Beloved Son in Law Thomas Exton of Eaton aforesaid And doth make and ordain him the said Thomas Exton My Sole Executor of this my Last Will & Testament

And I make my Eldest Son Thomas Martin Supervisor of this my Will to take Care and see the same performed According to the true Intent & Meaning

In Witness whereof I the said Francis have [“to” missing] this my last will and Testament Sett my hand and seal the day and year above written
