This is the last Will and Testament of me John Manchester of Harby in the County of Leicester Yeoman made this nineteenth day of January in the year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and Ninety Six

Whereas my Eldest Son William Manchester in intitled to the House and premises he now occupies after the decease of his Mother Therefore I do give unto my said Son William Manchester the sum of One Pound

Also I give unto my second Son John Manchester the sum of Ten Pounds

Also I Give unto my Grandson William Manchester the Son of my said second Son John Manchester the Sum of Five Pounds

Also I Give unto my Grand Daughter Dorothy the Daughter of my said Eldest Son William Manchester the sum of Five Pounds

Also I Give unto my Son Thomas the Sum of five Pounds And also unto his Son James the Sum of five pounds

All which said Several Legacies I do hereby direct shall be paid by my Executor hereinafter named within twelve Callendar Months next after my decease My Will being that the Legacy or Legacys of such of the said Legatees as shall be then under Age shall be paid to his her or their respective Father or Mother whose receipt shall be a Sufficient discharge to my Executor for the same

Also I Give and devise unto my Son George Manchester his Heirs and assigns All that messuage or tenement with the Yard Garden Orchard and premises situate at Harby aforesaid and now in the tenure of John Sumner Subject to the Life Estate of his Mother Mary Manchester therein

Also I Give and devise unto my Grandson William Manchester the Son of my Eldest Son William Manchester and his Heirs and Assigns All that my Close called Norwell and which I lately purchased of [blank] Butler

Also I Give and devise unto my Son in Law John Robinson of Barston in the County of Leicester Labourer this Heirs and Assigns All that Messuage or tenement and premises thereto belonging which I lately purchased of the said [blank] Butler Subject nevertheless to and charged and chargeable with the payment of Sum of Ten Pounds to my Son in Law John Bonols of the town of Nottingham in the County of Nottingham Framework knitter To whom I do hereby Give the same sum of ten Pounds and direct that the same shall be paid to him within twelve Months next after my decease with Interest for the same from the day of my Death after the rate of Four Pounds per Cent per Annum

And Whereas the said last mentioned Messuage or tenement and the said Close Called Norwell are now Mortgaged to George Bunney of little Dalby in the said County of Leicester Grazier for securing to him the repayment of the sum of thirty Pounds Now my mind and will is And I do hereby direct that the same shall be paid by my said Son in Law John Robinson and my said Grandson William Manchester out of the respective properties so as aforesaid devised to them in the proportions following that is to say my said Son [sic] John Robinson the Sum of twenty Pounds and the Interest thereof and my said Grandson William Manchester the sum of Ten Pounds and the Interest thereof And my Will further is that if either of them the said John Robinson and William Manchester shall pay more than the respective Sums aforesaid and the Interest thereof in discharge of the said Mortgage incumbrance Then I do hereby charge the Hereditaments and premises hereby demised to the other of them the said John Robinson and William Manchester with so much money as either of them shall pay more than the proportion aforesaid to be applied in reimbursing such extra payment And I do give the same to such of them as shall have made such extra payment accordingly

And I do hereby Give and bequeath All the rest residue and remainder of my Goods furniture Chattels and personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever (except as is hereinafter specifically mentioned) Subject to the payment of all my just debts funeral Expences and the Charges of proving this my Will) unto my said Grand Son William Manchester the Son of my Eldest Son William Manchester to and for his own use and benefit

And I do hereby appoint Thomas Jerman of Harby aforesaid and James Wright of Melton Mowbray in the County of Leicester Breeches Maker Executors of my said Will

Also I Give unto my Wife Mary Manchester the Bedstead and Hangings in which we now sleep Bed Bolster and two Pillows two Blankets & Coverlid and two Pair of Sheets belonging also an Oak Chest of Drawers a Deal Box a Deal tea table two flag bottom Chairs and one Tea Kettle which she shall chuse

In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal the Day and year first above written

Signed sealed published and declared by the said John Manchester the Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto the word price on the first side having been first written upon an Erazure and the Legacy to James Manchester first interlined

Whereas I John Manchester of Harby in the County of Leicester yeoman in and by my last Will and Testament in writing bearing date the nineteenth day of January which was in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety six Did Give unto my Son George Manchester his Heirs and assigns my messuage or Tenement situate at Harby aforesaid Subject to the life Estate of his Mother therein Now I do by this my Codicil Give unto my Granddaughter Frances Manchester Daughter of my Son William Manchester the Sum of Ten pounds payable out of the said Messuage or Tenements so as aforesaid given unto my said Son George Manchester within twelve Calendar Months next after the decease of the Survivor of me and my wife Mary Manchester in Case she my said Granddaughter shall then have attained her Age of twenty one years and in Case she shall be under Age at that time then Interest thereof after the rate of five per Cent untill she shall attain her Age of Twenty one years and the said Sum of ten pounds I give to her my said Granddaughter when she shall attain that Age and I do by this my Codicil which I desire may be taken as part of my Will charge the said Messuage or tenement with the payment thereof accordingly

Let probate be granted to James Wright Executor of the within written will he being sworn to the due execution thereof, & made Oath that the whole personal estate of John Manchester did not amount in value to the sum of One hundred pounds
