Stephen Kirk of Scalford 1778 Will

In the Name of God Amen I Stephen Kirk of Scalford in the County of Leicester being of sound mind and Memory do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner following
First I resign my soul to Almighty God and my Body to the Earth I commit to be decently Buried at the Charge and discretion of my Executor hereinafter Named and as for such Worldly Goods which God hath been pleased to bless me with I give and dispose of them as follows viz
I give and Devise unto my Brother Matthew Kirk all this my Messuage or Tenement wherein I dwell together with the Barn Stable Orchard Garden and Appurtenances and allso all those my two Closes of Meadow or Pasture Ground Inclosed Situate and being within the Liberty of Scalford aforesaid together with all and every appurtenant to them belonging or in anywise appertaining to him his Heirs and Assigns for ever Subject to the payment of Five Pounds a year to my Sister Elizabeth Kirk for and during the Term of her Natural Life to be paid her quarterly
I also give unto my said Sister Elizabeth Kirk all my Linnen and furniture for one Room That is to say one Feather bed Bedstead Hangings Blankets &c One large Pan two small Pans and a Warming Pan, Together with Chairs Table and other Necessary furniture
I give and bequeath unto my Brother Matthew Kirks Son and three Daughters one Guinea each
I give and bequeath unto my Nephew William Son of William Kirk one Shilling
I give and bequeath unto my Nephew John Son of John Kirk one Shilling
I give and bequeath unto my Nephew Richard Son of John Kirk one Shilling
I give and bequeath unto my Niece Ann Swain the sum of one Pound and one Shilling
All the rest residue and remainder of my Goods Chattels and personal Estate be they of what Nature or kind so ever I give and bequeath the same unto my Brother Matthew Kirk whom I also appoint full and Sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament revoking all former Wills by me made and this only to be my last Will and Testament
In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty first day of May one thousand Seven hundred and seventy seven
