William Kirby of Kinoulton 1659 Will

In the name of God &c The nineteenth daie of January, in the yeare of our Lord God, 1657 I Willm Kirby of Kinolton, in the Countie of Nott yeoman, being sicke in body, but of good and perfect memory (praised be God for it) doe make this my last will and testament in manner and forme followinge

First I give and bequeath my Soule into the hands of Almightie God, my Creator, redeemer, and preserver, I hope, (through the passion and meritts of my blessed Saviour Jesus Christ) to have a ioyfull resurrection at the last day when my soule shall be reunited againe to my bodie

And my body I Committ to the earth to be decently buryed at the discretion of my Executors hereafter named

And for that worldly estate which God of his exceeding great and large bounty, mercy, and goodness hath bestowed upon mee, I doe give and dispose of it as followeth

I give unto John Reade twelve pence

I give unto widdowe Hoe five shillings

I give to widdow Dreworie foure shillings

And to widow Shacocke twelve pence

And to widdowe Hart twelve pence

To be paid unto them within one moneth after my decease by my Executors

Alsoe I give unto Edward Kirby, my eldest Sonne, thirty shillings, to be paid unto him by my Executors within twelve monethes after my decease in full payment of his Childs part, and filiall porcon

Also I give unto my youngest sonne Anthony Kirby, All that my Cottage or tenement lyeing, and being neare unto the lodge on the Woulds in the Countie of Nott And also all those my two Closes, or inclosed grounds adioyning or lyeing neare unto the said house, conteyning by estimacon ten Acres, be they more or lesse, and knowne by the name of Lynley Closes; to the only use of behoofe of him the said Anthony, and his heires for ever

Also I give unto my Daughter Margrett Kirby, and to her heires for ever, All that my Cottage or tenement with th’appurtenances in Broughton Sulney in the County of Nott

Also I give unto my sonne Edward Kirby his three Children twenty shillings a peece to be paid by my Executors within twelve monethes after my decease And my desire is that it may be putt forward for the said Children

All the rest of my goods, Cattells, and estate unbequeathed, when these porcons and legacies are paid, and my funerall expences discharged, I give unto Anthony Kirby my youngest sonne, and Margrett Kirby my daughter

And I doe make them full Executors of this my will and testament

And I doe intreate Willm Blankley and Willm Day, to be Supervisors of my will

In wittnesse whereof I have to this my will sett to my hand and seale the day, and yeare above written

This will was Proved at London Before the Judges for probate of wills and granting Administracons the fifteenth day of Aprill, in the yeare of our lord God, one thousand sixe hundred, fiftie and nyne, By the oaths of Anthony Kirby the sonne, and Margrett Kirby the daughter, Executors named in the said will To whome Administracon of all and singular the goods, Chattells and debts of the said Willm Kirby deceased was Committed and granted, They being first Sworne by Commission truly to Administer the same
