Houses & Buildings: miscellaneous

We have several references to houses and buildings where we haven’t been able to identify their location or where the house is outside the Hickling parishes: if you are able to help us with any of these references, we would really like to hear from you.

Stanser Close/Stanserclose:

A news report in 1978 describes a successful planning application for a detached property known as Stanserclose to be used as a nursing home in Hickling:

Hiddesden, Main St. Hickling:

Mr G Lott is referenced at Hiddesden on Main Street in Hickling in the 1970s; he is the secretary of the Hickling Village Hall Committee at the time of the big May Festival in 1975 which fell prey to terrible weather and vandalism of the Village Hall on the night before celebrations which meant that all the baking and preparations had to be re-done at the last minute.

Rancliffe, Hickling Pastures:

In 1973 this detached property is advertised for sale on Hickling Pastures:

Wastepit Garden:

There is just one reference to Wastepit Garden in grazing/lettings records for 1918 in the name of TW Jeffrey; it is possible that this is a mis-spelling or mis-transcription – perhaps Washpit Lane?
