The last Will and Testament of me Matthew Hourd of Hose, in the County of Leicester, Farmer

I being of sound and disposing mind and memory, do make and declare this to be my last will and testament in manner following that is to say

I order that all my just debts, funeral expences, and charges of proving this my will, be in the first place fully paid and satisfied, and after payment thereof, and of every part thereof, I give and bequeath to my Grandson Henry Mantle of Hose, his heirs, administrators, or assigns, the sum of Twenty Pounds of lawful money of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland current in England

I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Ann Huckerby of Hose, her heirs, administrators, or assigns, the sum of Eighty Pounds of lawful money of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, current in England

I also give and bequeath unto my said Daughter Ann Huckerby the household furniture now standing or being in the chamber over the house, also that in the Parlour of the house in which I now reside with the exception of the cupboard and Bath stove in the parlour, which are to remain where they are

I give and bequeath unto my Son Richard Hourd of Hose, his heirs, administrators, and assigns the sum of one hundred pounds of lawful money of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, current in England

Also I give and bequeath unto my said Son Richard Hourd my cheese press, with the household furniture now standing or being in the chamber over the parlour and in the house place, in the House in which I now reside, with the exception of the Oven Boiler & fire grate and the two portraits of the Duke and Duchess of Rutland in the said house-place, which said Oven, Boiler &c and portraits shall … to my Executor hereinafter named

I also Will that my Dear Wife Mary Hourd reside with, and be maintained by, my son William Hourd, herein after named as my Executor, but in case they do not agree to reside together, that she be allowed the sum of six shillings per week, from my said son William Hourd, and that he also find a proper person to attend to her

I also Will that the aforesaid bequests of twenty pounds, to my Grandson Henry Mantle; Eighty pounds to my Daughter Ann Huckerby; and One Hundred pounds to my Son Richard Hourd, be paid within two years after my decease, but in case my said son Richard Hourd changes his situation so as to require his sooner, that he receive it at the end of twelve months from that event, the furniture bequeathed to my said Daughter Ann Huckerby, and my said son Richard Hourd, to be theirs from the time of my decease

And all the rest, residue and remainder of my goods, chattels, debts, ready money, effects, and other my estate whatsoever and wheresoever I give and bequeath the same, and every part and parcel thereof, unto my Son William Hourd of Hose, his executors, administrators, and assigns

And I do hereby nominate, constitute and appoint my said son William Hourd sole executor of this my Will, hereby revoking and making void all former and other Wills by me at any time heretofore made, and declare this only to be my last Will and Testament set my hand and seal, this eighteenth day of February in the Year of our Lord, One Thousand, eight Hundred, and forty seven

William Hourd of Hose in the County of Leicester Farmer the sole executor in this will named was sworn to the truth and faithful performance thereof as usual, and that goods, chattels & credits of the deceased without deducting any debts owing by him therefrom do not amount in value to the sum of three hundred pounds and that the deceased died on the 13th day of April last past

In the Court of the Commissary of the Archdeaconry of Leicester Appeared personally Thomas Burnett of Hose in the County and Archdeaconry of Leicester and made oath that he is one of the subscribed witnesses to the last will and Testament of Matthew Hourd late of Hose aforesaid Farmer deceased bearing date eighteenth day of February which was in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty seven now hereunto annexed and marked with the letter (A) and he further made oath that on the eighteenth day of February aforesaid the Testator duly executed his said last will by signing his Name at the foot or end thereof and sealing publishing and declaring the same as his Will in the presence of this Deponent and of John Burnett of Hose aforesaid the other subscribed Witness thereto who were then together present at the same time with the said deceased And this Deponent and the said John Burnett thereupon attested and subscribed the said Will in the presence of the said Testator and of each other

On the 14th day of December in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and forty eight the said Thomas Burnett was duly sworn at Scalford in the County and Archdeaconry of Leicester to the truth of the aforegoing Affidavit
