In the name of god Amen the first day of December in the yeare of the Raigne of our Soveraigne Lord King James of England France and Ireland the Eleventh and of Scotland the seaven & fortieth defender of the Faythe &c I John Hemsworth of Goadbye Marwood in the County of Lecester husbandman being sicke in bodye but whole in mind and of perfecte memorye (God be praysed) doe make and Ordaine this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme as followeth (viz)
First I bequeath my Soule to Almightye God trusting to be saved by the death and passion of my lord and saviour Jesus Christ and my bodye to the earthe from when it came to be buried in the Church yard of Goadbye aforesayd
Item I give to the sayd Church of Goadbye iis
Item I give and bequeath to the worshipful Dame Marye Compton two of my best wether hogg humbly entreating her favourable assistence to my successive familye
Item I give and bequeath to every of my God children ech of them vid
Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Hemsworth of the best of my household stuffe to the value of xiiii li to be sett forthe by the Estimacon and discretion of Nicholas Hessewall John Howet and Abraham Byshopp
Item I give to my sayd daughter Elizabeth Hemsworth the summe of tenn pouns of lawfull English money
Item I will that the sayd money and goodes be payed and delivered to my sayd daughter at her age of twentye yeares
Item I give more to my sayd daughter Elizabeth two Ewes & lammes to bee delivered her at Mayeday next ensuing
Item I give to my Neece Susanna Allam one ewe hogge to be delivered her at her age of twenty yeares
Item I give and bequeath to my sister Aless Holbe one barley land
Item I give and bequeath to Nicholas Heselwall John Howet and Abraham Byshopp ech of them xiid
Item I will that my father Thomas Hemsworth shall have sufficient maintenance with my wife & my sonne during all the time of his naturall life
Item I give and bequeath to my sonne Simond Hemsworth all my draught of horses and Mares Carts & Carte geares Plowe & plowe geares the sayd draught being kept and uphelde for the maintenance of the tillaige between my wellbeloved wife and my sayd sonne
Item I doe wish that the bay gelding should be sould toward the paying of some debts
Item I give and bequeath to my sayd sonne Simond Hemsworth six ewe hoggs
& the rest of my goodes and Chattels moveable and unmoveable unbequeathed I give and bequeath to my welbeloved wife Alces and to my sayd sonne Simond Hemsworth whom I make and Ordeine my whole and Joint executors of my sayd debts and legacies being discharged and my funerall expences performed according to the true meaning of the Tenor contained in the premises
Item I will and heartily desire the sayd Nicholas Heselwall John Howet & Abraham Byshopp to be supervisors and Overseers of this my last will & Testament
