John Hart of Long Clawson 1630 Will

In the name of god Amen I John Harte of the towne of Claxton als longe Clauston in the Countie of Leceister, Laborer, this 14th of Aprill In the yeare of the Raigne of our Soveraigne lorde, Charles by the grace of god, of Englande, Scotlande, France and Irelande Kinge defender of the faith &c the sixte 1630 Beinge sicke of bodie, but of good and perfect memorye (praysed be god) doe make and ordayne this my laste will and testament, in forme and manner followeinge

In primis I give & bequeave my soul to god that gave it and my bodie to bee buried in the Church yarde of Claxton aforesaide

Itim I give unto John Heart my god sonne the sonne of Thomas Harte of Hicklinge vid

Itim I give unto John Marriatt the sonne of Richard Marriatt of Hoes vid

Itim to John Williams the sonne of Roger Williams of Hoes aforesaid vid

Itim I give to my god daughter Anne Leavers the daughter of William Leavers of Claxton vid

Itim (If hee bee laieinge [sic]) I give to Henry Mathewes the sonne of Thomas Mathewes of Hoes vid

Itim I give unto Alice Arnalde my Cousin five shillinges and my will is that theis giftes and Legacies bee payed within 12 monethes next after my discease

Itim I give unto my daughter Mary Harte eight poundes of good & lawfull money to be payed at the age of Twentie and one yeares

But my will is & soe I ordayne that this eight poundes be payed by my sonne John my heire out of my landes And therefore I give him my house, my homestead, & all my lande with theire & every of theire apportinances & to his heires for ever to enter at the time or times hereafter expressed

For I give and bequeave all & every my foresaied dwelling house, homestead, and all my land with theire and everye of theire apportinances unto my wife Joane Harte for and dueringe all the tearme & time of twentie yeares next after my death fully to be compleat and ended

And my will is that if my wife Joane Heart remayne or then happen to fall widdowe after the expiration of the foresaied twentie yeares expired, dueringe her widdowehoode, to have sufficient houseroome & maintenance

Itim I give to my foresaied sonne John the best trussle bedstead & that Chest att the foot of the saied bead stead, the table in the house with the tressels, settle & forme therunto belongine

They rest of all my goods unbequeaved I give and bequeave unto my loveinge wife Joane Harte whome I make and ordayne the sole executrixe of this my last will and testament to see my debts & legacies payed, & my bodie brought honestly and reverently to the ground

Lastly I make & ordayne William Leavers & William Robinson of this towne of Claxton overseers of this my last will and testament which I Confirme under my hand & seal
