John Hand of Long Clawson 1763 Will

In the name of God amen I John Hand of Clawson alias Long Claxton in the County of Leicester being mindful of my mortality do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner following

Imprimis I give and devise all & Singular my Messuages Cottages or Tenements with all and every the appurtenances thereunto belonging scituate standing and being within the East End of the aforesaid Parish of Claxton to my beloved Wife Ann Hand for and during the term of her natural life, and from and after the decease of my said Wife I give and devise the same unto my son Robert Hand, to continue to him the said Robert Hand his heirs & assigns for Ever

(also) I give to my said son Robert Hand on Shilling

(also) I give to my Son Tho Hand one Shilling

(also) I give to my daughter Eliz. Hand Five pounds

(also) I give to my daughter Mary Gulson the sum of Five pounds

(also I give to my two Grandsons John and Thos the sons of my son Thomas Hand the sum of Five pounds apiece and my Will and mind is that the two Legacies of one shilling each, and the four Legacies of Five pounds each, be paid out of my Personal Estate within Twelve months after the decease of my Said Wife Ann Hand

(also) all the rest and residue of my Goods, Chattels and Personal Estate of what kind soever after my Just debts are paid and Discharged I give to my aforesaid Wife Ann Hand provided always and it is my Will that she shall in no manner destroy or cause to be destroy’d the same but only to use the same during the term of her natural Life if she continue my Widow so long and not otherwise and from and after her marriage or decease my will and mind is that it shall go to my daughter Ann Gregg and to all and every the Children of my said daughter Ann Gregg and I do hereby nominate and appoint my said Wife full and sole Executor of this Will, Revoking all former Wills at any time before by me made confirming this only as my last Will and Testament

In wittness whereof I the said testator have hereunto set my hand and Seal this twentififth day of November one thousand Seven Hundred and Sixty two

The 25th day of February 1763 Ann Gregg the Reversionary Legatee within named was sworn administratrix of all and singular the Goods, Rights, Creditts, Cattle, Chattels and Personal Estate of the within mentioned John Hand her late Father Deceas’d (with the within written Will annex’d)  Ann Hand Wid. the Executrix within nam’d died since the Death of the said Testator.
