Aprill the tenth Anoq dni Dei 1699

In the Name of God Amen I Richard Guy of Plungar in the Countie of Leicester Yeoman & Singlend being Aged & in health & Memorie praised be God therefore Doe make & Ordaine this my Last Will & Testament in Manner and Forme following (That is to Say)

Principally I humbly comitt my Soule to God that gave it mee Trusting to Be Saved By his mercie & the onely Merrits of Jesus Christ his Son & my Redeemer, and my Body to the Earth to be Buried in Christian Buriall, And as for my Worldly Estate I give Devise & Bequeath as followeth (vizt)

Imprimis I give Devise and Bequeath unto my well beloved Nephew William Gibbon of Plungar aforesaid Singlend all those my two Oxganges of Land arrable Meadow & Pasture Together with all & singular the Reversions Remainders Rents Buildings & Appurtenances whatsoever to the same Belonging lying & being in the Towne Fields and precincts of Statherne & in the County of Leicester and now or Late in the Tenure & occupation of John Marriott & Richard Caunt or their or one of their Assignes (Excepting & Reserving unto the poore people of Statherne ten Shillings which I give unto them out of the two oxgangs of Land to be paid to the sd poore upon Christmas day soe Called in evrie year for ever) To have and to hold to him the sd William Gibbon his heires & Assignes for ever (Except before excepted)

And further it is my will & I doe will that if the sd poore money be not paid upon the Day apointed for the payment thereof that then it shall & may be Lawfull for the overseers of the poore of Statherne then Being to Sue the Then owner or owners of the said lands & premises in any of his Majesties Court of Record for the present Recovrie thereof or repaire to any Justice of the Peace for the Recovrie thereof & at the onely Cost & Charges of the offender

And it is my will & I doe will that my sd Nephew shall have the first years profit of the premises after my Decease, And then the next foure years profit to the use of his sister Mary Trotter my Neece, to make her Legacie by me given Twenty pounds, be it more of less But I will that the sd William Gibbon shall pay the sd poore money all these foure years & she to pay all Cheife Rents Taxes and other Dues & Duties for the sd Lands all the sd foure yeares And after the sd foure years then the sd two Oxgangs of Land with all the profits & Appurtenances to redownd & be to the onely use & behoof of the sd William Gibbon his heires & Assignes for ever

Item I give Devise and Beqeuath unto my WellBeloved Nephew Andrew Guy of Plungar aforesd All that my oxgang and halfe one oxgange of Land arrable meadow and pasture with thappurtenances And alsoe one Little Close of pasture ground inclosed Together with all and Singular the Reversions Remainders Rents Profitt privilieges & appurtenances whatsoever to the same Belonging Lying & Being in the Towne Fields and Precincts of Statherne & in the Countie of Leic and now or Late in the Tenure & Occupation of Francis Whittill his Assigne or Assignes (Excepting & Reserving unto the poore people of Plungar ten shillings yearly which I give unto them out of the sd oxgang & halfe of Land & litel Close called pinfold Close to be paid to the sd poore upon Christmas Day (Soe Called) in evrie year for ever To have and to hold to him the sd Andrew Guy his heires & Assigns for ever except before excepted And further it is my Will and I doe Will that if the said Poors money be not paid upon the Day Apointed for the payment thereof that then it shall & may be Lawfull for the overseers of the poore of Plungar then being to Sue the then owner or owners of the sd Lands & Premises in any of his Majestys Courts of Record for the present recovrie theirof or repaire to any Justice of Peace for the recovrie thereof & at the onely Cost & Charges of the offender And I humbly Desire the Minister of Both Townes to see the poors money truly paid & bestowed & above what Collection the Townes allows for the Best Releife of the said poore of both parishes

Item I give & bequeath to my neece Elizabeth Fawkes Twenty pounds Lawful money to be paid to her in one year after my Decease

Item I give & Bequeath unto my neece Margaret Marriot’s Children (vizt) unto Henry Marriott eight pounds of Lawfull money, And to Elizabeth Marriott twelve pounds of Like Lawfull money And to Mary Marriott ten pounds Lawfull money And to Anne Marriott ten pounds of Lawful Money all to be paid in one year after my Decease

Item I give & Bequeath to my kinswomen Elizabeth Barnes twenty Shillings And to Frances Strong twenty Shillings and to Bridget Grocock twenty Shillings all to be paid in one year after my decease

Item I give to my kinswoman Anne Burges 2s6d & all the money her husband & she oweth … to my Aunt Hickling iiis to Sarah Hand iiis to Elizabeth Hand iis vid And to Margaret Pike iis vid all to be paid one year after my Decease

Item all the Rest of my goods Cattells Chattells Bonds Bills househould stuff Money and Creditts whatsoever and wheresoever I give Devise & Bequeath unto my said Nephew Andrew Guy whom I make & Apoint Sole Executor of this my Last Will and Testament he paying all my Debts Legacies & funeral Charges Soe Revokeing all former & other wills by me made To this my Last Will & Testament I have Sett to my hand and Seale the Day & year above Written
