In the name of god Amen the xxvth day of Januarie anno dni 1596 and in the nyne and thirteth yeare of the Raigne of our most Soveraigne Ladye Elizabeth by the grace of god of Englande France and Irelande Queene defender of the fayth &c I Edwarde Guye of Claxton in the County of Leicester husbandman sicke of bodye but of good and perfect remembrance god be praised do make and ordayne this my last will and testament in maner and forme following

First I bequeath my soule unto Almightye god my maker and to Jesus my Saviour and redeemer in whome I hope to be saved by a lively faith in Christ Jesu and my body to be buried in the parishe Church of Claxton

Itm I give and bequeath to the pore mans boxe in Claxton xiid

Itm I give and bequeath to Anne Harpher my daughter xs

Itm I give and bequeath to the three children of Ann Harpher three sheepe to be paide within one yeare next after my decease and to be delivered to there parents for their behoofe

Itm I give and bequeath to Marye Marritt my daughter vis viiid

Itm I give and bequeath to the two children of Marye Marritt two sheepe to be given them within one yeare next after my decease and to be delivered to there parents for there behoofe

Itm I give and bequeath to Elizabeth Guye my daughter xxx li and a bed with the furniture belonging to it and the bed to be of her mother setting forth and of hir mother bedding and it to be given at the day of hir mariage & if so be that hir lawfull age of one and twentye yeares be first expired that then shee to reach the one half of hir said parte at the sayd age of one and twentye yeares and the other halfe to be paide within one halfe yeare next after

Itm I give and bequeath to Jone Guy my wife the one halfe of my brasse and puter and the cheare which shee brought when shee was maried & halfe in the parler and one great arke and that which is in it

Itm I give and bequeath to Willm Guye my sonne and to the heires of him lawfully begotten all my lande in Claxton

The rest of all my goods unbequeathed my debts and legacies discharged I give to Willm my sonn whom I make full executor of this my last will and Testament

Itm I make Edward More Richarde Hickling and Thomas Marrit my supervisors of this my last will and Testament
