John Goodwin of Goadby Marwood 1812 Will

This is the last Will and Testament of me John Goodwin of Goadby Marwood in the County of Leicester Grazier as follows

First I direct my just Debts Legacies Funeral and Testamentary expences to be fully paid

I Give and bequeath unto my two friends Robert Hickling of Waltham on the Woulds in the County of Leicester Grocer and John Marshall of Buckminster in the said County Grazier their Executors and Administrators the sum of Eight hundred pounds Upon this Special trust that they my said Trustees or the Survivor of them his Executors or Administrators do and shall as soon as conveniently may be after my death lay out and invest the same upon Real or Government Security and pay the Interest Dividends and proceed thereof as the same shall arise unto my Daughter Lucy Carter for her own peculiar use and benefit for and during the term of her natural life and I do hereby declare that the Receipt of my said Daughter alone notwithstanding her Coverture shall be a sufficient discharge to my said Trustees for so much money as shall therein be acknowledged to be received and that the same shall not be liable to the Debts Controul or Engagement of her present or any after taken Husband

And from and immediately after her decease Then to pay such Interest and Dividends unto and amongst all and every the Child and Children of my said Daughter in equal shares and proportions for and towards their Maintenance Education and support until they severally and respectively attain their respective age and ages of twenty one years

And when and so soon as they shall so respectively attain their said respective age and ages of twenty one years Then my Will is that my said Trustees or the Survivor of them his Executors or Administrators do and shall pay assign and transfer the said Sum of Eight hundred pounds and the Interest then due thereon unto such Children respectively in equal shares if more than one and if but one then to such only Child

But in case there should be no issue of my said Daughter or being such all of them shall happen to die under age without Issue of their respective Body or Bodies Then I do Give the said Sum of Eight hundred pounds and all Interest due for the same unto my only Son John Goodwin his Executors and Administrators

All my Household Goods other Goods Stock Cattle Chattels rights credits ready money securities for money and all other my Personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever (not hereinbefore by me disposed of) and of what nature kind or quality soever the same may be I Give and bequeath unto my said Son John Goodwin his Executors and Administrators and I do appoint and constitute him Sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former Wills by me made

In Witness whereof I the said John Goodwin the Testator have hereunto set my hand and seal this thirty first day of May One thousand eight hundred and five

Signed sealed published and declared by the said John Goodwin the Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have at this request in his presence and in the presence of each other set our Names as Witnesses to the due Execution thereof

Let probat be granted to John Goodwin of Goadby Marwood Grazier, the sole Executor of this Will, he being sworn to the due Execution thereof & made oath that the whole amount of the personal Estate of the Testator deceased, at the time of his death*, did not amount to the sum of Five Thousand pounds
