Richard Goodson 1857 of Hose Will

This is the last Will and Testament of me Richard Goodson of Hose Hills Lodge in the County of Leicester Farmer and Grazier

I direct all my just debts Funeral and Testamentary expences to be fully paid

I Give Devise and bequeath All that my Messuage or Tenement outbuildings yard garden and hereditaments situate in Hose aforesaid in the occupation of Joseph Marriott And also All my Personal Estate and Effects of every Kind of which I shall die possessed Unto my affectionate Wife Frances Goodson for her to have the free use and enjoyment thereof during the Term of her natural life And from and after her decease then I dispose of my said Real and Personal Estate and Effects as follows

I Give and Devise All my said Messuage or Tenement with the Appurtenances Unto my Son Richard the legacy or Sum of Two hundred and fifty pounds to be paid to him Twelve months after my said Wifes deceased

I Give and bequeath unto my son John Goodson the Sum of One hundred and fifty pounds to be paid at the same time

Whereas my Son in law William Stevenson stands indebted to me in the Sum of 200£ secured to me on his Promissory Note of hand Now I do bequeath to my daughter Frances Stevenson Such sum of 200£ Secured on such Note and do direct the said Security to be given up to her at my said Wifes decease on her giving a proper receipt for the same

I Give and bequeath unto my daughter Eliza Whittle the legacy or sum of Three hundred pounds which I will shall be paid into her own proper hands by the following Instalments namely the Sum of Thirty pounds a year until the whole shall be fully paid with Interest on the Surplus from time to time accruing due thereon at four pounds per centum per Annum And that such legacy and instalments shall not I declare be subject to the debts controul or engagements of her present or any future husband and that her receipts alone shall from time to time be good and sufficient discharges to my Executors for such payments to be made and paid to my said daughter Eliza Whittle And in case my said daughter shall happen to die before the whole of the said legacy shall become payable by virtue of this my Will Then the Residue I Give Unto and amongst all her Children share and share alike

And as to all the Rest Residue and Remainder of my said Personal Estate and Effects after the decease of my said Wife I Give and bequeath the same unto my three Sons James Samuel and Thomas Goodson share and share alike and to their Respective Executors and Administrators

And I do appoint my said Three Sons James Samuel and Thomas Goodson Joint Executors in Trust of this my last Will and Testament hereby Revoking all former Wills by me made

In Witness whereof I have hereto set my hand this Eleventh day of April 1854

Signed Published and declared by the said Richard Goodson the Elder as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have at his Request in his presence and in the presence of each other at the same time set our hands as Witnesses to the due Execution thereof

Twenty Seventh day of January 1857

James Goodson of Thorpe Arnold Farmer Samuel Goodson of Hose Farmer and Thomas Goodson of Hose Farmer all in the County of Leicester the joint Executors in this Will named were duly sworn to the truth and faithful performance thereof as usual, and to the truth of the usual Stamp Office Affidavit, and that the goods chattels and credits of the deceased without deducting any thing on account of debts owing therefrom do not amount in value to the sum of Four thousand Pounds and that the deceased died on the second day of October last past
