In the Name of God Amen This is the last Will and Testament of me Robert Goodacre of Claxton otherwise Long Clawson in the County of Leicester Yeoman

I confirm to my dear Wife Sarah Goodacre the annuity of fifteen pounds for her life granted to her by me previously to our Marriage in lieu of Dower and charged on my Estates situate at Claxton otherwise Long Clawson aforesaid purchased by me respectively of Thomas Thompson and Mary his Wife and of Thomas Cart and I direct that the said annuity of fifteen pounds shall be paid in equal Moieties of Seven pounds and ten shillings by the devisees hereinafter named of these respective Estates

I also give to my Wife all the fixtures and furniture which are in her houses in Bingham in the County of Nottingham the books which were her own previously to our marriage such articles of Goods Plate Linen books and Effects of mine as she shall make choice of to the value of forty pounds and fifty pounds in Money such articles to be delivered and money paid to her immediately on my death

I give to my Brother William Elsey Goodacre an annuity or annual payment of Nine pounds for his life to commence from my Death and to be paid half yearly with the payment whereof I charge my Messuage Lands and Heredits situate in Claxton otherwise Long Clawson aforesaid now in my own occupation which I purchased of the said Thomas Thompson and his Wife and I give power to my said Brother to distrain for the said annuity on the heredits charged therewith if the same shall be in arrear for twenty days in the same manner as Landlords have power to distrain on Tenants for rent in arrear

Subject to the above annuity and to the moiety of my Wifes annuity I give and devise the said Messuage Lands and heredits with their appurts unto and to the use of my three Nephews Robert William and John Goodacre the three Sons of my said Brother William Elsey Goodacre their heirs and assigns equally to be divided amongst them share and share alike and to take as tenants in common and not as joint tenants

I give to my said Brother William Elsey Goodacre an annuity or annual payment of three pounds a year to commence be paid and recovered in the same manner as I have directed as to his annuity before granted with which annuity of three pounds I charge my Closes and heredits situate in Claxton otherwise Long Clawson aforesaid in my own occupation which I purchased of the said Thomas Cart and subject to this annuity and to the moiety of my Wifes annuity I give and devise the said Closes and heredits with their appurts unto and to the use of my Brother John Goodacre his heirs and assigns for Ever

I give and devise the house with the appurts thereto belonging situate in Claxton otherwise Long Clawson aforesaid in the occupation of John Fox and which I purchased of George Julian and others unto and to the use of my said Brother John Goodacre his heirs and assigns absolutely for ever free from all charges whatsoever

I give to my said Brother William Elsey Goodacre an annuity or annual payment of six pounds for his life to commence be paid and recovered in the same manner as I have directed as to his first annuity hereby granted with which annuity of Six pounds I charge my Closes and heredits in my own occupation situate in Claxton otherwise Long Clawson aforesaid with I purchased of John Beasley and subject to this annuity of Six pounds I give and devise the said Closes and heredits with their appurts unto and to the use of my Nephew and Niece Thomas Henton and Elizabeth Henton Children of my deceased Sister Sarah Henton their heirs and assigns equally to be divided between them as tenants in Common and not as joint tenants

George Hives the husband of my Niece Mary Goodacre Daughter of my said Brother William Elsey Goodacre owes me one hundred and thirty pounds on a mortgage Now I give this Sum of one hundred and thirty pounds to my said Niece Subject only to her husbands paying three pounds a year to my Brother William Elsey Goodacre for his life and I direct my Executors on the Death of my Brother or sooner with his Consent to give up to the said George Hives his Security

My Wifes Brother and my Nephews having had some money of me I expressly direct that my Executors shall not call upon any of them for the payment of any money I may have so advanced

I give to my Niece the said Mary Hives thirty pounds to be paid within twelve months after my death

To testify some Love to my deceased Wifes Relations I give to her Brothers John Marsley and Samuel Marsley her Nephews Jasper Raven and Thomas Bradshaw and her Nieces Ann Raven and Mary Ann Chamberlain five pounds a piece to be paid as soon as conveniently may be after my death

I give to my Wife and to Mr James Hind and Mr Thomas Mann both of Clawson the Sum of Ten pounds to be paid within a Month after my death and to be by them distributed at their discretion amongst such poor persons living in Clawson as they shall think the greatest object of Charity

I direct all my just debts the above Legacies and funeral and testamentary expences to be paid out of my personal Estate not before specifically bequeathed to my wife and as to the residue of my Personal Estate I give one half thereof to my Brother John Goodacre and the other part to my said three Nephews Robert William and John Goodacre Sons of my Brother William Elsey Goodacre in equal shares

And Lastly I nominate and appoint my said Nephew William Goodacre Clerk now residing at Sutton in Ashfield in the County of Nottingham and my said Nephew Thomas Henton Schoolmaster now residing at Shelford in the said County of Nottingham joint Executors of this my last Will and Testament and I revoke all former Wills by me heretofore made

In Witness whereof I the said Robert Goodwin [sic] the Testator have to this my last Will and Testament contained on three sheets of paper set my hand and seal in manner following namely to the two first sheets hereof my hand and to this third and last sheet my hand and seal this 4th day of April in the year of our Lord 1824
