Thomas Glover of Long Clawson 1742 Will and Inventory

In the Name of God Amen I Thomas Glover of Claxton als Long Clawson in the County of Leicester Yeoman Do Make and Ordain this My last Will & Testament in Manner And form following

First & Principally I commit My Soul into the Hand of God Who Gave it hopeing through the Merrits of Jesus Christ to have a pardon for all My Sins And My Body to the Earth And as for My Temporall things I dispose of them in Manner & form following

Imprimis I Give to My Son Thomas Glover My Half An Oxgang of Land lying in The Field of Asfordby now in the Possession of William Hart in Asfordby As afore Said on the Condition that he Pay to his Mother Katharine Glover the full Sum of thirty Pounds of Good and Lawfull Money of Great Britton And to his Brother Stephen Glover the Sum of ten Pounds of Good and Lawfull Money of Great Britton One Year after My Discease

Item I Give to My Grand Son Thomas Glover The Son of My Eldest Son Thomas Glover above mentioned the Sum of Ten Pounds to be paid by his Father Thos Glover to My Guardian after mentioned for him to be put out for his Use in time to come

Item My Will and mind is that the Rest of the Thirty Pounds remaineth after the Decease of my Wife Katharine Glover It Shall be Equally Divided Amongst My three Daughters Sarah Katharine & Elizabeth or to there Issue If they be Deceased before there mother & leave any

Item I Give to my Wife Katharine Glover My Chester Drawers And the Hanging Press & the Dresser and Puter Shelf And the Table Linnen And the fine Sheets for her own Proper Use and to Dispose of them as Shee things fit

Item I Make Thomas Hixon of Barson Sole Guardian for My Wife & Son Stevens

Item I give to My Son Thomas Glover out of My Personal Estate the sum of One Shilling

And Lastly I Give the rest of Goods Not Mentioned to My Wife Katharine Glover and to my Son Stephen Glover And do make them Sole Executrix & Executor of All My Goods Cattle and Chattles Equally divide to be betwixt them Twane and do Declare this to be my Last Will & Testament revokeing all former Wills & Testaments

In wittness whereof I have hereunto Set My Hand and Seal the Tenth Day of May In the fifteenth year of Reign of Our Sovereign Lord George the Second by the grace of God of Great Britton France and Ireland King & in the year of Our Lord 1742

Note Well the Piece of a Line Putt in that is Inter lind concerning Thomas Hixon Was Put in before the Will was Seal’d
