The 4th of October 1617
In the name of god Amen I William Gamble of Saxelbye in the Countie of Leicester husbandman beinge sicke in bodie butt whole in mynde of good & perfect remembrance thanks be to god doe Constitute make & ordayne this my last will and testament in manner & forme followinge
First I bequeathe my soule to Almyghtie God trusting to bee saved by the merits death and passion of our Lord and Saviour Jesus xt
Item I bequeath my bodie to bee buried in the Churchyard of Saxilbye
Itm I give to my Brother Henrie Gamble xxxx li
Itm to my brother John vi li xiiis 4d
Item to my brother Vallantine vi li xiiis 4d
Itm I give to Ann & Marie William & Elizabeth Simson being John Simpsons Chilldren v li apeece to bee payd when they Come to the age of one and twentie yeares and if anye of them depart this lyfe before they Come to this age then there portion to bee devyded Amonge the Rest
Itm I give to the poore of the towne xiid apeece
Itm I give to Elizabeth Gylbert v li at the age of one & twentie yeares
Itm the Rest of my goods unbequeathed my debts beinge payd and theise legacies discharged I give & bequeath to Agnes my wyfe whome I doe make my soule executrix of this my last will & Testament
In wytnes wheireof I have sett to my hand and seal the daye and yeare above written
And I doe desire Mr John Neale & Robert Hicklyng to bee overseers to see this testament performed
Md that this legacie to Henrie Gamble is to bee payde the one xx li at May daye 1620 the other xx li att Martlemas followinge And the legacies to John and Vellentyne at May daye 1619
