Thomas Faulks of Long Clawson 1686 Will

In the name of God Amen I Thomas Fawkes of Longe Claxton in the County of Leic husbandman beinge weake in Body but of a sound and perfect Minde and Memory praise be therfore given to Allmighty god, doe make and Ordaine this my last Will and Testament in Manner and forme followinge that is to say

First and principaly I comend my Soule into the hands of Allmighty God hopeinge through the death and passion of my Saviour Jesus Christ to have full and free pardon and forgivenesse of all my Sinns and to Inherit Everlastinge life and my Body I Committ to the Earth to be decently Buried at the Discretion of my Executrix here after named and as touchinge the disposition of all such Temporall Estate as it hath pleased Allmighty God to bestow upon mee I give and dispose there of as followeth

Imprimis I will that my Debts and funerall Charges be paid and discharged

Item I give and bequeath unto my Eldest Sone Richard Fawkes and to his heires for ever all my house and Tenement with the appurtenances thereto belonging and one Close commonly known by the name of Holt Close and all my Arable Land Meadow and Pasture common and common of pasture with the appurtenances thereto belonging in the fields of Long Claxton Provided that hee the said Richard Fawkes or his heires shall pay unto my younger children such sume and sumes of Moneys at such daies and times as hereafter shall be mentioned and declared viz that is to say

First that my said Sonne Richard Fawkes or his heires shall pay unto my second Sonne Thomas Fawkes ten poundes when he shall accomplish his Age of one and twenty yeares, and alsoe to pay him ten poundes more at his mothers decease

Item my Mind and will is that my said Sonne Richard Fawkes or his heires shall alsoe pay unto my third sonne Isaack Fawkes the sume of thirty poundes when he shall accomplish the age of one and twenty yeares

Item my will and mind is that my sonne Richard Fawkes or his heires shall alsoe pay to my eldest daughter Elizabeth Fawkes ten poundes when she shall Accomplish the Age of one and twenty yeares

Item my will and mind is that my son Richard Fawkes or his heires shall pay unto my youngest daughter Mary Fawkes the sume of ten poundes when she shall accomplish the age of one and twenty yeares

And if it fall out that all or any of the aforesaid sume or summes of money so given and bequeathed hereby be unpaid at the time or times before mentioned, then my will is that the person or persons that shall be unpaid shall enter upon the Land aforesaid and enjoy it untill such time and times as the said sume or sumes of money soe due to be paid, shall be paid and fully satisfied

Item I give unto my daughter Elizabeth Fawkes tenn poundes to be paid by my Executrix hereafter named when she shall accomplish the age of one and twenty yeares

Item I give unto my daughter Grace Fawkes twenty poundes to be paid by my Executrix when she shall accomplish the age of one and twenty yeares

Item I give unto my youngest daughter Mary Fawkes ten poundes to be paid by my Executrix when she shall accomplish the age of one and twenty yeares

Furthermore my will and mind is that if any of my said children shall die before the time and age herein profixed then the portion or portions hereby given and bequeathed shall be equally divided among my surviving children when the said portion or portions shall become due as if the child or children were living

Item all the rest and residue of my personal estate goods and chattells whatsoever not heretofore given and bequeathed I give and bequeath unto my Loving wife Elizabeth Fawkes whom I doe make my full and sole Executrix of this my last will and Testament and I doe hereby revoke disanull and make void all former Wills and Testaments by me heretofore made

In witnes whereof I the said Thomas Fawkes have hereunto set my hand and seal this one and thirtieth day of May in the second year of the Raign of our Sovereign Lord James the Second by God of England Scotland France and Ireland King defender of the Faith &c Annoq Dom 1686
