Edward Faulks of Scalford 1751 Will and Inventory

In the Name of God amen I Edward Fawkes of Scalford in the County of Leicester Yeoman being of Sound mind and memory Do this Eleventh day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred and fifty one Make and Ordain this my last Will and Testament in Manner and form following (that is to say)

First of all I Commend my Soul into the hands of almighty God my Maker and my body I Committ to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my executrixes herein after named

And as for such temporal Estate which it hath pleased almighty God to bless me with I give and dispose of the same as followes (that is to say)

I give and devise unto my daughter Mary now Wife of Andrew Guy and to her heires all that undivided Moiety or equal half part of all my Messuage or tenement and homestead thereunto belonging with their and every of their appurtenances scituate standing and being in Claxton otherwise Long Clawson in the County of Leicester now in the possession of James Musson And also of all those four oxgangs of Land lying and being dispersedly within the west end fields liberties and territories of Claxton otherwise Long Clawson aforesaid now in the possession of the said James Musson And also of all other the lands tenements and hereditaments of me the said Edward Fawkes in Claxton otherwise Long Clawson aforesaid To have and to hold the said Undivided Moiety of the said premises Unto her my said daughter Mary Guy her heires and assignes for ever

Also I give and devise all that other Undivided Moiety or equal half part of my aforesaid Messuage or tenement and homestead thereunto belonging with their and every of their appurtenances and also of all those my aforesaid four oxgangs of Land lying dispersedly in the said west end fields and liberties of Claxton otherwise Long Clawson aforesaid And also of all other the Lands tenements and hereditaments of me the said Edward Fawkes in Claxton otherwise Long Clawson aforesaid Unto my Daughter Jane Wilford Wife of William Wilford of Scalford aforesaid Yeoman and to her heirs To have and to hold the said last Mentioned Undivided Moiety of the said premises Unto her my said Daughter Jane Wilford and to her heirs and assignes forever

Also I give and devise all those my two Closes of Meadow or pasture ground with their and every of their appurtenances thereunto belonging lying and being within the Lordship of Holwell in the said County of Leicester now in the possession of William Leadbeter And also all other the Lands tenements and hereditaments of me the said Edward Fawkes in Holwell aforesaid Unto my daughter Melicent Wilford now Wife of Edward Wilford of Stathern in the Said County of Leicester and to her heires To have and to hold the said two Closes and premises thereto belonging Unto her my said daughter Melicent Wilford and to her heires and assignes for ever

Also I give the Tenant right and possession of the Messuage and Closes thereunto belonging situate within the liberties and precincts of Nether Broughton in the County of Leicester which I hold and Rent of the Right Honourable the Earle of Feversham Unto my Said Younger Daughter Melicent Wilford for her own use And I humbly desire my Said Landlord to accept of her to be his Tenant

All the rest and residue of my Goods Cattle Chattles and personal Estate of what kind soever my debts Legacies and funeral Expences being first paid and discharged I give and bequeath the same Unto my Said three daughters Mary Guy Jane Wilford and Melicent Wilford whom I hereby Appoint full and Joynt Executrixes of this my Will hereby revoking all former Wills by me made declaring this to be my last Will and Testament
