William Fann of Scalford 1714 Will and Inventory

In the Name of God Amen I William Fan of Scalford in the County of Leicester Roper being indisposed in health but of sound mind & memory praised be Gd do make this my last Will & Testament in manner following

Imprimis my soul I commend into the hands of Jesus Xt my Saviour hoping thro his alone merits to partake of eternal happiness & my body I commit to the ground to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executrix herein after mentioned

& my estate I dispose of as follows

Imp I give & devise to my son John Fan & his heirs after the decease of my dear Wife that house wch I now live in with the homestead & a close adjoyning to it & another house lying in Scalford now in the tenure or occupation of Thomas Bass with a Cottage Common & half a Common being in Scalford field & all other appurtenances belonging to both houses

Item I give & devise to my Daughter Elizabeth a house lying in Long Claxton in Leicestershire with all appurtenances thereunto belonging

Item I give & devise to my sons William & Augustine & my Daughter Martha a Close lying in Scalford field commonly call’d Dumore piece with a quarter of a yard land & half a Cottage Common to be equally divided amongst them but if the aforesaid John Fan die having no lawfull issue my will is that what I have here left him shall after my Wife’s decease be given to my Son William & his heirs provided that my Son William shall resign his share in Dunmore piece and the quarter of yard land & the half Common aforemention’d to my son Augustin & Daughter Martha to be equally parted between them

Item I give & bequeath to my Daughter Mary half a Crown & to my granddaughter Elizabeth half a crown

Item the house wch Ralph Barks lives in & all my goods chattles cattle & personal estate whatsoever I give & bequeath to my dear Wife whom I make Executrix of this my last Will hereby revoking all former Wills by me heretofore made

In witness whereof I have here set my hand this twenty seventh day of September 1714
