In the Name of God Amen I Leonard Davie the Younger of Goadby Marwood in the County of Leicester Felmonger being in good health of body and of sound and disposing mind and memory do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in forme following

First and principally I commend my Soul into the hands of God Almighty and remit my body into the Earth by decent burial at the discretion of my Executrix hereinafter named assuredly trusting to the mercy of Christ Jesus my Redeemer for eternal Salvacon both of body and Soul at the Resurreccon of the just

And as touching my Worldly Estate I dispose of the same as followeth (vizt)

I give and bequeath unto my dear Wife Frances all those my Closes Lands Tenements and Hereditaments whatsoever with their and every of their Appurts lying and being in the Fields of Stonesby in the said County of Leicester which I lately bought and purchased to me and my Heirs of and from William Baresby of Thorpe Satchvile in the County of Leicester aforesd Gen and also all that my Messuage Cottage or Tenement Standing and being in Melton Mowbray in the said County of Leicester now in the Occupation of Henry Watchorne his Assignee or Assignes And also all that my Messuage Cottage or Tenement with the Appurts Scituate and being in Cawdwell in the said County of Leicester And also all my Lands Meadows or pasture ground with the Appurts lying and being in the Fields of Cawdwell aforesaid and Wykeham in the said County of Leicester or either of them To Hold the aforesaid Premisses unto my said Dear Wife for and dureing the terme of her natural Life

And from and after her decease I give and devise All the aforesaid Messuages Cottages Closes Lands and Tenements unto the Heirs of my Body begotten or to be begotten on the body of my said dear Wife for ever

And for want or in default of such Issue I dispose thereof as followeth That is to say

As to for and concerning all those the aforesaid Closes Lands and Tenements whatsoever with their and every of their Appurts lying and being in the Fields of Stonesby aforesaid I give and devise unto the Heirs of my said dear Wife for ever

And as to for and concerning all that my Messuage Cottage or Tenement with the Appurts in Melton Mowbray aforesaid And also all that my Messuage Cottage or Tenement and Arrable Land Meadow or pasture ground with their Appurts lying and being in the several Townes Fields Liberties and precincts of Cawdwell and Wykeham aforesaid I give and devise unto my loveing Brother John Davie his Heirs and Assigns for ever

Item I give and bequeath unto my said Dear Wife All my Goods Chattells and ready money Leases or terms for years either at Law or in Equity in possession revercon and remainder or expectancy Debts and Personal Estate whatsoever upon condicon that my said dear Wife pay all my just Debts which I shall owe at my decease Together with the severall Sumes of money herein after devised (vizt)

I give and bequeath unto my dear Father Leonard Davie one hundred pounds and Interest for the same to be paid within twelve months next after my decease over and above all moneys that shall be owing to my said Father from me at the time of my decease

Item I give and bequeath unto my said loveing Brother John Davie Fifty pounds to be paid within Twelve Months after my decease

Item I give and bequeath unto my loveing Sister Mary Turney the Wife of William Turney of Melton Mowbray aforesaid Fifty pounds to be paid within Twelve months next after my decease

Item I give and bequeath unto my God daughter Elizabeth Turney Daughter of the said William and Mary Turney Fifty pounds to be paid within Twelve months next after my decease

Item I give and bequeath unto my loveing Sister Elizabeth Radfath [Radford, Elizabeth Davie married John Radford of Nottingham at Goadby Marwood 5 October 1704] the Wife of John Radfath of Nottingham Fifty pounds to be paid within twelve months next after my decease

Provided always and upon Condicon Nevertheless that if it shall please God I shall leave Issue of my body on the body of my said dear Wife at the time of my decease or if it shall please God She shall be ensient at my decease Then I doe hereby revoke and make void all the aforesaid several Sumes of money herein before by me respectively bequeathed (Excepting that only to my said Father) And I do hereby give devise and bequeath all my aforesaid goods Chattells ready money Leases or terme for years either at Law or Equity in possession revercon remainder or expectancy Debts and personal Estate whatsoever (except so much thereof only as will pay the said one Hundred pounds and Interest for the same as aforesaid by me bequeathed to my said Father) unto my Children as shall be living at my decease and to every other my Child and Children that shall be afterwards borne and whereof my said Wife shall be ensient at the time of my decease to be equally divided between them Share and Share alike any thing herein before contained to the contrary thereof in any wise notwithstanding

And I do hereby Order the said One Hundred pounds and Interest as aforesaid to my said Father to be paid to him as aforesaid by my Executrix hereinafter named out of my said Goods Chattells ready money Leases Debts and personal Estate whatsoever

And I do hereby constitute and appoint my said dear Wife Sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament revokeing all former Wills by me heretofore made

In Witness whereof I the said Leonard Davie have to this my last Will and Testament (conteining two Sheets of paper) Set my hand and Seale to each Sheet thereof the Thirty first day of August in the year of our Lord God one Thousand Seven hundred and Fourteen
