In the name of god Amen the 17th day of May 1598 and in the fortieth yeare of the Raygne of our Soveraygne Lady Elizabeth by the grace of god Queene of England, France, & Ireland, defender of the fayth &c I William Dallywater of Harby in the county of Liec husbandman, sicke of body, but of perfect remembrance, god be praysed, do make this my last will & testament in manner and forme following

Imprimis I bequeath my sowle into the hands of almightye god my maker; and my body to be buried in the church yard of Harby

Item I owe to my Sister Alice ten pounds which was given her by my father; and I give her moreover to mend her part five markes

Item I give to my sayd sister Alice a red arke; a stand bedd in my parlour; a payre of sheetes, a harden and a hempen, a coverlidd and a pillowe:

Item I will that Agnes Hide my old mother, be mayntayned and kept here under my wife even as shee hath bene

Item I give to my brother George Hand all my apparell

Item I give to my sister Alice after the decease of my wife; if that child yet unborne live nott, all my land which was given me of my father

Item I give to that child if it live then when it shall come to yeares: if a man child at one & twenty: a woman at fifteen

Item I give to every one of my brother Thomas Hands children six pence

Item to Robert Whittaker my godsonne six pence

Item I give to my Uncle Robert Dallywater halfe a strike of barley, & half a strike of pease before new come

Item I will that if my mother & wife cannot agree together hereafter, that my mother shall depart with her owne goods, and shall have four nobles payd her in two yeare, at two times, one halfe at her departing

Item I give to George Hand a ewe & a Lambe

Item in steede of a cowe which I should have given to my sister Alice I give her seven nobles to be payd her at Martilmas next to buy her a cow

Item I give to the church of Lincoln two pence

Item to the church of Harby xiid

Lastly my debts being payd, my legacies performed all the rest both land and goods I give to Jone Dalliwater my wife, and do make and ordayne her my full and sole executrix of this my last will and Testament, also I make William Petty and James Hubbard Supervisors of my last will, and for there paynes I give eche of them xiid and that this is my last will and testament I have sett to my hand the day and yeare above written
