William Daft of Melton Mowbray 1746 Will

In the Name of God Amen I William Daft of Melton Mowbray in the County of  Leicester Taylor being Sick and Weak in Body but of Sound Mind and Memory and considering the uncertainty of this life Do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner following (that is to say)

First of all I give my Soul to God that gave it me and my Body I Commit to the Earth to be decently interred att the discretion of my Executrix hereinafter named And as for my Worldly Estate which hath pleased God to bless me with I give and dispose thereof as follows

In the first place I give and devise all that my Messuage or Tenement Scituate Standing and being in Melton Mowbrary aforesaid in a certain place there called Binton End and wherein I now dwell unto my Eldest Son William Daft and his heirs for ever But my Mind and Will is that my said Eldest Son William Daft shall pay unto my Youngest Son Robert Daft the sume of five pounds when he Attains his age of one and Twenty Years And for the just and true payment whereof I doe herein and hereby charge my aforesaid Messuage or Tenement So given to my said Eldest Son William Daft and his heirs as aforesaid And in case of non payment thereof it shall and may be lawfull unto and for my said Youngest Son Robert Daft to make Entry into the said messuage for so long time as shall discharge the said sume of five pounds

And Also I give and bequeath unto my said Youngest Son Robert Daft the Sume of three pounds to be paid him when he Attains his said Age of one and Twenty years by my Executrix herein after named

And Also I give and bequeath all and singular my Household Goods unto my said Son William Daft and my Daughter Mary Daft to be equally divided between them share and share alike

And Also all the Rest and residue of my Personal estate (my Debts Legacys and funeral Expenses being first paid and discharged) I give unto my said Daughter Mary Daft whom I doe hereby Appoint Sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament revoking all former Wills by be att any time heretofore made

In Witness Whereof I the said William Daft the Testator have hereunto putt my hand and seal this Twenty fourth day of October in the year of our Lord one Thousand seven Hundred and forty five

The 11th April 1746 Mary Daft Spinster the sole Executrix within named was Sworne and at the same time made Oath that all the Deceased’s Personal Estate at the time of his Death was not worth Twenty Pounds
