Robert Daft of Stathern 1782 Will

This is the Last Will and Testament of me Robert Daft of Statherne in the County of Leicester Gentleman

First I desire to be Buried in a private and decent manner at the discretion of the Executor hereinafter named and as for my Worldly Estate which hath pleased God to bless me with I Give and Dispose thereof as follows

In the first place I Give and devise all that my New Inclosed piece or parcell of Land Situate lying and being in the Lordship of Hickling in the County of Nottingham and Containing by Estimation Nine Acres or thereabouts And now in the Tenure or Occupation of my Nephew Robert Daft Youngest son of my late Brother John Daft of Hickling aforesaid farmer unto my said Nephew Robert Daft his heirs and Assigns for ever

Also I Give and Devise All that other New Inclosed piece or parcell of Land situate Lying and being in the said Lordship of Hickling aforesaid and Containing by Estimation Nine Acres or thereabouts And now in the Tenure or Occupation of my Grand Nephew Robert Daft Eldest son of my late Nephew John Daft of Hickling aforesaid farmer Deceased Unto my said Grand Nephew Robert Daft his heirs and Assigns for ever

Also I Give and Bequeath unto my Grand Nephew John Daft youngest Son of my late Nephew John Daft of Hickling aforesaid farmer One Annuity or Clear Yearly Sum of Six pounds to be paid him by two Half Yearly payments in every Year that is to say on the fifth day of April and the Tenth day of October the first Payment thereof to be made on such of the said Days as shall first and next happen after my Decease And I Do hereby Charge my Close of Pasture or Ground Inclosed situate lying and being in Colston Bassett in the said County of Nottingham with the just Payment and in Case of Non payment thereof for the said John Daft to enter into and upon the said Close in Colston Bassett aforesaid and to distrain upon the Cattle Depasturing thereon and with the Distress and Distresses then and there found to sell and Dispose of the same to pay the said Annuity of Six pounds and the Costs and Charges of taking such Distress and Distresses

Also I Give to my Grand Niece Elizabeth Shipman the Sum of Fifty Pounds to be paid Her within Twelve Months next after my Decease by my Executor and Devisee hereinafter Named

Also I Give and Devise all that my Close of Pasture or Ground Inclosed situate lying and being in the Lordship of Colston Bassett aforesaid Containing by Estimation Twenty four Acres or thereabouts and now in my own Tenure unto my Grand Nephew William Shipman youngest son of my late Nephew in Law John Shipman deceased his heirs and Assigns for ever But my Mind and Will is and I do hereby Subject and Charge my said Close in the said Lordship of Colston Bassett with the Yearly Payment of the said Annuity of Six pounds so Given to my said Grand Nephew John Daft as aforesaid As also with the true payment of fifty Pounds so Given by me to my said Grand Niece Elizabeth Shipman

And Lastly I do hereby Nominate Constitute and Appoint my said Grand Nephew William Shipman Sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking and making Void all other Wills by me at any time heretofore made

In Witness whereof I the said Robert Daft the Testator have hereunto Set my Hand and Seal this Ninth day of July and in the Year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and Eighty One

Signed sealed Published and declared by the said Robert Daft the Testator and for his Last Will and Testament in the presence of us the Witnesses under written who have at his request and in his presence and in the presence of each other set our hands as Witnesses to the due Execution of this his said Will and the Erasure and several Interlineations were done before the Execution hereof
