1779 Daft John of Garthorpe
In the Name of God Amen I John Daft of Garthorpe in the County of Leicester Taylor being in ill State of health of Body but of Sound and Perfect Mind Memory and Understanding Do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in Manner and form following (that is to say)
I Give and bequeath unto John Daft of Melton Mowbray in the County of Leicester Taylor Five Pounds to be paid him within Six months next after my Decease by my Executor herein after Mentioned
Also I Give and bequeath unto Elizabeth Torvill Five Pounds Also I Give and bequeath unto Mary Torvill Five Pounds to be paid them when they arrive to the age of Twenty One Years and if either of the said Elizabeth Torvill or Mary Torvill shall Die before their Legacy shall become Due my Will is that the Survivor shall have the same
And as to for and Concerning all the rest residue and remainder of my ready Money and Securities for Money Debts Due and oweing to me my Cattle Personal Estate and Effects whatsoever and of what Nature or kind soever not herein before given or disposed of I Do by this my Will give and bequeath the same and every Part thereof unto John Torvill of Garthorpe in the County of Leicester Labourer and I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint the said John Torvill full and Sole Executor of this my last will and Testament hereby revoking and making void all former and other Will or Wills by me at any time heretofore made
In Witness whereof I the said John Daft have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand and Seal the Twenty fifth Day of February in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy Eight
