Charles Daft of St Clement Danes 1708 Will

In the name of God Amen I Charles Dafte Mariner Son of John Dafte late of Sheare Lane in the parish of St Clements Danes in the County of Middlesex  Gunsmith being in health of Body and of sound minde and memory (thanks be to God for the same) Doe make publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament in manner following (that is to say)

First I commend my Soul to Allmighty God who gave it me And as for such worldly Estate as I now have or shall be possessed of or intituled unto at the time of my decease I give devise and bequeath the same as followeth

Imprimis I give and bequeath unto my loveing Friend Robert Fearnes Citizen and Carman of London All arrears of pay and all and every sume and sumes of money now due to me for my service on Board her Majesties Ship Somersett Captain Prise Commander and all and every sume and sumes of money that shall hereafter become due to me for my service on board the said ship or for my service on board any other of her Majesties Ships of Warr whatsoever wherein I shall serve I haveing impowered the said Robert Fearnes to receive and give discharges for the same by Letter of Attorney under my hand and Seal bearing date with this my Will

Item I give and bequeath unto my said loveing Friend Robert Fearnes all my Estate and Interest in possession or revertion or in Law or Equity of and in one Copyhold Messuage with the Lands and appurtenances to the same belonging in the occupation of Mr Harby scituate lyeing and being at Kirkes End in the parish of Mimmes in the County of Hertford held of the Mannor of [blank] Richard Sanderson of Barnett Lord of the same To hold to the said Robert Fearnes and his Heires according to the custome of the said Mannor

And I doe hereby constitute ordain and appoint my said loveing Friend Robert Fearnes Sole Executor of this my last Will hereby revokeing and making void all former Wills by me made

In Witness whereof I the said Charles Dafte the Testator have to this my last Will and Testament contained in one sheet of paper Set my hand and Seal the Eleventh Day of January Anno Domini One Thousand seven Hundred and four And in the Third year of the Raigne of our Soveraigne Lady Queen Ann over England &c
